Hi! I am Kimberly Kordi, LCSW based in Los Angeles, CA. I started my journey in therapy by working with children and adolescents at a non-profit organization. I am currently working with adults in a Telehealth capacity. The adult clients I work with have such concerns as trauma, grief and loss, life changes/transitions, anxiety, and postpartum disorders. I am shifting my practice to engage in mainly EMDR treatment.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will introduce ourselves and I will collect helpful information about you that includes goals and concerns. Together we will discuss a treatment plan to address your specific concerns.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I feel that I am a compassionate and caring person. I am able to listen to your personal struggles and experiences because it is unique to you. My approach is collaborative, I let the client take the lead and if they need guidance I can support that as well. My number one goal as a provider is to have the client feel safe with me. When you are ready to take the next steps to make changes in your life, I will be here to support you!

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with young women, college students, and new moms as they face life changes and challenges.

EMDR

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing is a type of therapy that can help address symptoms of trauma through eye movements or alternative movements such as tapping. My approach to EMDR incorporates aspects of somatic movement. When a trauma event occurs it seems to get locked in the nervous system with the original picture, sounds, thoughts and feelings. The eye movements used in EMDR seem to unlock the nervous system and allow the brain to reprocess the experience similar to what is happening in REM or dream sleep, the eye movements help to process the unconscious material. The clients brain begins to heal and moves towards health and balance.
