Solution oriented

I am a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with three years of experience providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care to adolescents and adults. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to participate in their treatment. My approach is collaborative, holistic, and patient-centered, combining medication management with supportive therapy, education, and lifestyle interventions when appropriate. I believe that every person's experiences, strengths, and challenges are unique, and I work to develop individualized treatment plans that align with each client's goals. My calm, approachable, and empathetic personality helps me build trusting therapeutic relationships, and I am committed to helping clients improve their mental health, resilience, and overall quality of life.

First session

My goal is to provide a safe, welcoming, and judgment-free space where you can openly discuss your concerns. During our first session, we'll spend time getting to know each other. I'll ask about your symptoms, medical and mental health history, current medications, lifestyle, and personal experiences so I can better understand your unique needs. There is no pressure to share everything at once—you are always in control of what you feel comfortable discussing. Together, we'll develop a treatment plan that fits your goals, which may include medication, therapy recommendations, coping strategies, or lifestyle changes. I'll explain each recommendation, answer your questions, and make sure you feel informed before making any decisions. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and respectful. Seeking help is a courageous step, and you don't have to face life's challenges alone. My hope is that you'll leave each session feeling heard, supported, and with a clear plan for moving forward.

Strengths

One of my greatest strengths is my ability to listen without judgment and create a space where clients feel safe, respected, and understood. I approach each session with empathy, patience, and genuine curiosity, recognizing that every person's story is unique. I believe in building trust through honesty, consistency, and collaboration, helping clients feel comfortable discussing even the most difficult topics. My nursing background has given me a strong understanding of the connection between physical and mental health, allowing me to take a holistic approach to treatment. Over the past three years as a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I've had the privilege of working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and at different stages of life, which has strengthened my ability to adapt care to each person's individual needs. Like many people, I have experienced life's challenges, setbacks, and periods of personal growth. Those experiences have reinforced my belief that healing is not always a straight path and that resilience can be developed over time. While I keep my personal life separate from my clinical practice, these experiences have deepened my compassion and ability to connect with others in a genuine, human way. I strive to meet every client where they are, helping them build on their strengths while working toward meaningful and lasting change.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-oriented form of psychotherapy that helps people identify and change unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior. It is commonly used to treat conditions such as Depression, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and many other mental health concerns.

Interpersonal

Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) is a structured, time-limited psychotherapy that focuses on improving a person's relationships and social functioning. It is based on the idea that difficulties in relationships can contribute to emotional distress, and that strengthening interpersonal skills and addressing relationship problems can reduce symptoms. IPT is commonly used to treat Depression and has also been adapted for conditions such as Postpartum Depression, Bulimia Nervosa, and some anxiety-related conditions.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a collaborative, person-centered counseling approach that helps people strengthen their own motivation and commitment to change. Rather than persuading or confronting someone, the therapist guides them in exploring their reasons for change and resolving mixed feelings (ambivalence). MI is widely used for concerns such as Substance Use Disorder, smoking cessation, improving medication adherence, weight management, and managing chronic health conditions.

Psychoeducation

Psychoeducation is a therapeutic intervention that provides individuals and, when appropriate, their families or caregivers with information about a mental health condition, its treatment, and practical coping strategies. It is often used as part of broader treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, family therapy, or medication management rather than as a standalone therapy. The goal is to help people better understand their condition, participate actively in treatment, and manage symptoms more effectively.
