(he/him)
Life has a way of presenting unforeseen circumstances for all of us. Having support when we need it the most is a valued need and a service I help provide to my clients. I focus on helping you find strength, build on hope, and develop skills to become more resilient for the challenges you may face. . I have over 17 years of experience in the mental health field with the past 10 years being in clinical roles. My educational background includes having completed a Master of Social Work from Indiana University School of Social Work in Indianapolis where I concentrated on Mental Health and Addictions. As an undergraduate, I attended Purdue University in West Lafayette where I earned my BA in Anthropology. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Indiana. I am also a Certified Financial Social Worker.
Most people begin to feel better after a few sessions as they discuss their stressors, relationships, hopes, and dreams while we collaboratively plan ways to help make improvements to meet your goals.
Many clients have shared appreciation for an authentic, calm, caring, nonjudgmental approach for helping process their unique needs.
My career in mental health began when I worked at a community mental health center. Then I found a calling working in acute, crisis settings after I transitioned to inpatient, consult, and leadership roles. In my years of serving others, I have worked with people from all ages and stages of life by helping to serve individuals, groups, and families in outpatient, residential, and inpatient care settings. My psychotherapy practice is currently focused on serving individual adults and couples.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have used Cognitive Behavioral Therapy over the years with my patients in several ways. We work together on identifying negative thoughts, challenging or reframing these, develop coping strategies, and track progress towards mutually agreed on goals.
Couples Counseling
I use the gottman method for long term couples work (addressing core issues, affairs, etc) and prepare/enrich for premarital and brief work (focused on problem solving).
Motivational Interviewing
This is a technique used to help enhance motivation, explore values, and address barriers to change.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
This approach focuses on developing solutions to challenges rather than a distant past, we look to the future and explore the approaches necessary to find practical and meaningful growth.
Strength-Based
Using a strength based approach, we will focus on your strengths, resources, skills, dreams, to improve a sense of personal empowerment and strategy to build confidence, resilience, and agency in your life.
