Hi! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Tennessee. I received my Masters from East Tennessee State University and have been practicing for the last 16 years. I work with individuals, couples and families to sold. My goal is to equip our clients with the tools and insights they need to take control of their mental health and create the life they desire.
The first session will involve an evaluation of symptoms and a plan to address them in a manner that will help you get your life back on track. You will leave with at least one coping skill you can use right away to begin the journey to healing
My greatest strength is my personality; which is most effective in building rapport and trust with my clients. I weave my personality into the therapeutic techniques in order to make the therapeutic process less threatening. The healing journey begins with compassion and understanding without judgment.
I love working with people suffering with addictions and/or co-occurring disorders. I have extensive experience in supporting clients with recovery regardless of whether their in the stage of preparing for detox, learning early recovery skills or preventing relapse. Additionally, I enjoy working with families dealing struggling with addiction in the home including the treatment of codependent members. My clients have exhausted their own resources/tools and yet continue to suffer. In addition to working with client with addictions I also have many years of experience helping clients recover from other mental illness.
CBT is the treatment method I've used most consistently over the last 16yrs. CBT helps to break down any irrational thinking creating negative emotions. I have had many clients return to say this most helpful because of the easily learned coping skills that they could begin using right away. During the first session we will explore what brought you to therapy and develop a plan for success. With CBT, we'll look at how your thoughts are connected to your emotions and behaviors. During treatment, I will assist in identifying negative thinking patterns and develop a plan for how to dispute those thoughts in order to feel better.
