I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and National Certified Counselor committed to helping adults strengthen emotional wellness, build resilience, and create meaningful change. My work includes supporting individuals who experience anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, and difficulties rooted in growing up within dysfunctional or emotionally unsafe family environments. I strive to create a supportive, collaborative, and non-judgmental therapeutic space where clients feel heard, validated, and empowered. My approach integrates evidence-based interventions and trauma-informed care, tailored to each person’s unique goals, history, and strengths. Together, we work to increase self-awareness, develop effective coping strategies, improve relationships, and foster healthier ways of showing up in life. My goal is to help clients gain clarity, heal from past experiences, and move toward greater balance, self-compassion, and personal fulfillment.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, my focus is on helping you feel safe, welcomed, and understood. We will spend time exploring what brings you to therapy, what you have been experiencing, and what you would like to work toward. This meeting allows us to get to know one another, clarify your goals, and begin forming a collaborative plan for treatment. I will explain my therapeutic approach, review confidentiality, and outline what you can expect from our work together. You will have space to ask questions, share relevant history, and talk openly about the challenges you are facing at your own pace.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is the ability to build genuine, caring connections with the people I work with. I am intentional about creating a space that feels safe, welcoming, and free of judgment — a place where clients feel seen, heard, and respected. I listen closely, with curiosity and compassion, so I can truly understand your story and what matters most to you. From there, I tailor treatment to fit your unique needs, drawing from approaches such as cognitive-behavioral approaches, mindfulness, trauma-informed care, and narrative work. Above all, I feel honored to walk alongside clients as they heal, develop insight, and recognize their own strength. Supporting people as they move through difficult seasons and toward more grounded, fulfilling lives is the heart of why I do this work.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I work with adults who are navigating a range of emotional and life challenges. My clinical focus includes supporting individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use concerns, relationship difficulties, and significant life transitions. I also have a strong interest in working with clients who grew up in dysfunctional or emotionally unsafe family systems and continue to feel the impact in their current relationships, self-esteem, and daily functioning. Together, we work toward insight, healing, and healthier patterns of living.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I help clients understand the link between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Through this structured approach, we work together to identify and reframe unhelpful thinking patterns, empowering individuals to develop practical skills that foster resilience and positive change in managing various challenges such as anxiety, depression, and behavior modification.
EMDR
I employ Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to address and process traumatic experiences stored in the brain. Using bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements or taps, we navigate these experiences, facilitating their adaptive resolution. EMDR often leads to transformative shifts, reducing the emotional distress associated with past trauma and fostering a more positive and integrated sense of self.
Motivational Interviewing
I guide clients toward self-directed change by fostering intrinsic motivation and exploring their readiness for transformation. Through empathetic listening and collaborative conversations, I support individuals in resolving ambivalence, amplifying their internal motivation, and empowering them to make meaningful, sustainable changes aligned with their values and goals.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use DBT with individuals facing challenges with emotional regulation, interpersonal difficulties, and self-destructive behaviors. DBT combines cognitive and behavioral strategies, offering practical skills to enhance emotional well-being and foster healthier relationships.

Seeing Barbara’s profile instantly stuck out with me- her goals and challenges make me feel deeper and want to be better, at the same time being comfortable expressing myself. She was able to pinpoint exactly where I needed to address certain issues. I am able to reflect on what I need to work on and use it in my life at any given moment. I will with no doubt see her again in a future session.

I resisted therapy forever. I recently decided that I could use some help navigating post divorce and being single while trying to find someone to connect with. I have completed five sessions with Barbara Parchment and have only positive feelings about the experience so far. She puts me at ease with her lack of judging and clearly remembers what we discussed so far. She gets me to see on my own rather than giving direct advice. I am always surprised when my time is up as the time passes quickly.
