Hannah Weeks
Welcome! I'm Hannah, an LPC in the state of Georgia specializing in treating Obsessive-compulsive Disorder, Panic Disorder, and other Anxiety Disorders. My practice meets clients exactly where they are - I make sure my clients don't have to struggle with these conditions alone. If you are seeking treatment for any of these issues, please feel free to book a free 15-minute consultation!
First session
My approach to therapy is both process and skills-oriented, and always guided by two evidence-based modalities: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Exposure and Response Prevention. Clients can expect an initial 60-minute intake where we do things like clarify diagnostics, collect background information, and establish goals for treatment. Clients can also expect a space to ask any questions they'd like and to be exactly where they are - no need to be perfect, have it all together, or know exactly what's going on. We figure that out together.
Strengths
My style as a therapist is affirming, warm, and participative. I am always honored to partner with a client on their therapeutic journey!
Ideal clients
My ideal clients are participative, open, and willing to collaborate on goals and their own treatment plan. I am a firm believer in client participation being a huge part of client success in therapy, and I always enjoy partnering with clients who are ready to get started. I love inquisitive clients, who have plenty of questions and aren't afraid to come in with their most challenging issues. I work best with clients who are facing OCD, phobias, or other anxiety disorders.
Treatment methods
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
ACT is an action-oriented form of therapy that helps you stop fighting, struggling with, or avoiding your inner emotional life. ACT guides you to accept and separate from distressing thoughts as they come up, and to commit to behaviors that reflect your values (i.e., what’s actually important to you!), so that you can live a more unburdened life and seek out the connections and experiences you crave.
Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)
ERP is a specialized, evidence-based therapy that involves intentionally and carefully confronting anxiety-provoking triggers (exposure) while actively resisting the urge to perform compulsive or avoidant behaviors to relieve the anxiety (which, ultimately, only increases the anxiety you’re dealing with). I partner with you to develop resources to navigate exposures, construct a fear and exposure hierarchy, and may have you perform exposures inside/outside of the therapy room.
