New to Grow
Greetings, thank you for choosing me as a provider. My practice focuses on helping diverse individuals navigate life's challenges through personal growth and self-discovery. My goal is to create a supportive environment where you can explore your unique experiences and gain the confidence to present yourself authentically in the world. My approach is a collaborative journey in which you are the expert on your own life. We work together to gently explore your experiences, understand what has influenced you, and uncover your inner strengths so you can gain the confidence to live a life that feels authentic and fulfilling. My hope is to create a space where you feel completely comfortable sharing your thoughts. I'm an active listener who asks questions to ensure I fully understand your perspective, and I often reflect on what I hear to confirm we're aligned. This is about us working together to understand your experiences. We'll break your goals into smaller, manageable steps and identify the skills you need to develop or the thought patterns to address. Our sessions will be a space to practice these new skills and explore any challenges that arise. I'll provide practical tools and support, celebrating your progress and adjusting our plan as needed.
This first session is about you. We'll have a relaxed conversation where you can share what brought you to therapy, your experiences, concerns, and goals. My goal is to create a safe environment where you feel heard and understood. We'll discuss next steps, but the most important outcome is that you feel comfortable starting this journey.
I believe our struggles are less about what is wrong with us and more about what happened to us. I specialize in helping clients navigate the complex intersection of personal history and the current environment. By integrating nervous system regulation with a deep understanding of systemic stressors, I help clients move from survival to agency. The goal is to create a collaborative, secure space where you can dismantle outdated survival strategies and build a life rooted in safety and self-compassion. We don't just talk about your thoughts; we look at the world you live in and how your body holds onto stress. Together, we’ll work to find your internal brake, set healthy boundaries, and rewrite the narrative of your life from the ground up.
Do you ever feel like you're wearing a mask to fit in, or that there's a disconnect between who you truly are and who you think you should be? An "ideal" client is defined by their readiness and engagement in the process. The ideal clients are individuals from diverse backgrounds who are tired of hiding their authentic selves and ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have experience using CBT, primarily with clients experiencing generalized anxiety and depressed mood. In practice, I use this approach to help clients become their own therapists. I often use thought logs and behavioral activation. I find it most effective when we can pinpoint a specific recurring automatic thought and work together to challenge its validity with real-world evidence.
Couples Counseling
In working with couples, I believe that understanding the "workings" of your relationship is the first step toward lasting change. Using psychoeducation to help both move away from personal blame and toward a clearer understanding of the cycles and communication styles that shape interactions. The goal is to reveal why one gets triggered and how each can better support the other. The objective is not just to have "talked about it," but with a shared language and a concrete strategy to navigate challenges long after leaving the office.
EMDR
I am EMDR-trained and have integrated EMDR into my practice. I use it as a powerful tool for clients with trauma. Rather than just talking about the event, I use bilateral stimulation to support the brain's natural healing process. I’ve seen this lead to significant reductions in the intensity and distress of intrusive memories.
Psychoeducation
In practice, I view psychoeducation as a partnership. It is not simply about providing information; it is about bridging the gap between clinical concepts and the client’s lived experience. By demystifying the why and how behind thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, I empower clients to become experts in their own well-being. Psychoeducation transforms sessions from a space of support into a space of growth, equipping clients with a toolkit they can use long after our time together ends.
Trauma Informed Care
My approach is grounded in a Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) framework, which underpins all my clinical work. I view every client—whether an individual or a couple—through the lens of What happened to you? Rather than What is wrong with you?
