New to Grow
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker that has had experience in child welfare, foster care and medical social work. I have training in CISN (Critical Incident Stress Debriefing) as well as palliative care. I believe that clarity on a stressful situation or event can often come about after having opportunities to talk about it. My training has equipped me to help individuals identify ways to recognize their strengths and apply them to their current circumstances to change their outlook.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Creating a calm and empathetic environment is a high priority in my sessions with clients. I like to affirm clients' strengths and help identify areas to apply those strengths to change clients' perspectives on their current situations.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Clients have expressed appreciation for my ability to listen, empathize and identify ways that they can improve their situation and circumstances. My honest approach to communicating areas that require adjustment, such as maladaptive thinking patterns and negative response to life situations have been helpful to clients as they seek to make changes for a better path moving forward.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
The types of clients I typically work with are adults who may be experiencing anxiety due to relationships, life transitions, job stress, job change, parenting, and/or grief.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
This treatment modality allows me to empower the client by recognizing triggers and difficult experiences in order to develop an actionable plan to respond productively to the situation instead of avoiding them.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is instrumental in identifying maladaptive thinking patterns and behaviors and modifying them to foster growth and improved well being. This modality has been extremely helpful to clients that find themselves in patterns of living that they have grown tired of.
Culturally Sensitive Therapy
This treatment method has been most effective for those clients that were raised in a family where the parents immigrated to the United States which resulted in cultural norms that are common in 2nd generation Americans, specifically in Asian families. Identifying these norms and recognizing how they shape behavior and thought patterns has been very effective in clients who struggle with their identity and self worth.
