About me

I'll help you process, organize, and clarify your own set of values and priorities to make choices and decisions that will help you accomplish your major life goals. We can look at the experiences in your life that are causing you to feel indecisive and stuck. And together, we will create a realistic plan of action that feels right for you.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our sessions are fun and collaborative. I use interactive "mind-mapping" on white boards with graphs, markers, and drawings to help my clients visualize and gain a better understanding of how intentional core skills impact the quality of their daily experience. We'll build a roadmap - a foundational mindset skill framework - that helps folks see how practical, essential, evidence based "core" psychology skills build over time; helping you feel more confident through each stage of life. I make sure to cover core basics such as: self-care, self-esteem, boundaries, communication/assertiveness, lifespan growth/development, and decision making skills. We will also have deeper conversations about how to build emotional and psychological health through whole life-span development from: childhood to adulthood (to help you thrive in marriage/healthy relationships and intentional parenting) - all the way to older age transitions such as retirement. We'll normalize conversations around health, career/money/finances, relationship concerns, family planning; and how to practice healthy/secure attachment skills for resilient, emotionally mature, long-lasting, loving, authentic relationships.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As a trained yoga teacher, founder of an active tennis group, and golfer - I'm proactive and productive. Just like a golf coach with a golf simulator, we will map out practical work in sessions. Once I outline the framework/foundation - you'll begin to see how developing mature habits and relationship skills will help you feel more secure in your life. We'll practice skills regularly in a "therapeutic setting" - removing anxiety and indecision blocks - so that you'll be able to ask for what you need, want, and desire in your actual life and be able to build a life that feels intentional, secure, realistic, and sustainable.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Many of my clients are working through specific challenges such as creating daily self-care habits, working through academic/career dynamics, and navigating dating/relationship levels of growth, and building a life plan that accomplishes their major life goals. I help my clients increase their clarity and quality of life by working with them to build their foundational skills and core sense of self; and by developing mindset, motivation, identity, personal values, and interpersonal skills; along with higher level relationship skills such as effective communication, secure attachment, healthy power/control dynamics, trust/safety challenges, higher level intimacy/sex conversations, and discussions about men and women's issues to promote curiosity and understanding of differences between couples in relationships.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I'll help you find your own personal brand of values to make choices and decisions that will help you accomplish your major life goals. We can look at the experiences in your life that are causing you to feel indecisive and stuck. And together, we will create a realistic plan of action that feels right for you.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I help college/graduate students and professionals in these areas: anxiety, stress management, career counseling, relationships, communication/social skills, decision-making, and self-esteem/self-awareness. Sessions are collaborative; and I often use interactive "mind-mapping" on white boards with graphs, markers, and drawings to help my clients visualize and gain a clearer picture of how decision making impacts the quality of their daily experience; and how whole life-span development builds on multiple levels of psychological tasks, virtues, and values through Erikson's Stages of Development from childhood to old age.

Monica absolutely has been the right fit for my husband and I. She quickly and accurately assessed our relationship and offered effective solutions right away. We are only about a month into working with her and have seen slow but steady improvements in our relationships. Monica is intelligent, empowering, caring and knowledgeable on what can work and work quickly. She does not have you replay every situation in your life in order to offer solutions. This is very refreshing. THANK YOU, Monica!

Monica was very easy to talk to and her framing of our session felt like "work" instead of just talking at someone, which I find can often happen in therapy sessions that are not scheduled for weeks. I enjoyed it and found it very helpful.
