Happy to meet you! I'm a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) based in Minnesota, born and raised in Miami, Florida. I'm a Licensed Professional Counsellor (LPC) based in California. I received my Masters from the University of Florida and have been practicing for 7 years. I help young adults struggling with career stress and burnout become the best versions of themselves experience in the LGBTQ+ community, Latino community, large families and developing healthy boundaries. I have also worked in addressing challenges related to issues such as men's concerns, anxiety, depression, impulsivity, addiction, young adults, relationship issues, and grief.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session you can expect for us to get to know one another, and test the waters. If I am the right person for you, we will begin doing the work. The hardest part is over, showing up and accepting that professional help is needed for change. In therapy, I value equity, collaboration, humor and patience.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a Cuban-American, with a non-nuclear family, I bring in multiple lenses in providing therapy. I believe that you are the expert of your life, and just as your teammate would, I strive to provide support, reflection, and comradery as you seek out a life that fulfills you.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I like to take a directive and structured approach, in which I show clients alternative ways of thinking and behaving. I am a believer in mindfulness, and the cognitive reframing of old unproductive thought patterns you might not even know you have to allow for a more compassionate and joyful worldview. My process is engaging, and exploring new ways for you to see your world.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

There is no form of therapy that is a one-size fits all approach, and I take a culturally competent approach with every person I work with.

Motivational Interviewing

In my work with serious persistent mental illness this is often one of my go-tos. We work together and use a person-centered approach. This approach is practical, employs empathy, and uses the person's own arguments for change.

Strength-Based

Regardless of who you are, you have strengths that can be used to meet your goals, and remove the obstacles in your life that are impeding these changes.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Some people do not have the luxury of receiving months of therapy. In SFBT, we will work together to get you back to your baseline and getting out of crisis mode.
