About me

I am a compassionate and experienced Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC-S) with over 20 years of experience and dual credentials in mental health and substance abuse treatment in Ohio. I support adults navigating challenges like anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, relationship struggles, grief, and low motivation—helping clients feel safer, more grounded, and capable of change. My approach is collaborative and practical, offering both emotional support and evidence-based strategies to empower clients as they work toward meaningful, lasting growth. I was drawn to this work by my beloved family member, who lived her life with a mental illness. Watching her courage taught me early on that healing happens in relationships—when we feel seen, safe, and supported. Outside the office, you’ll find me experimenting in the kitchen, planning my next travel adventure, or getting some fresh air and exercise. These keep me grounded and curious—qualities I bring to our work.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In your first session with me, you can expect a warm, welcoming, and structured start to your therapy journey. I begin by getting to know you through a holistic assessment—gathering information about your history, current concerns, strengths, and goals to ensure an ethical, individualized plan for your care. This part of the journey helps me understand not just what you’re struggling with, but also what has helped you cope so far and what you hope to achieve in therapy. Beyond the formal assessment, my style is collaborative and grounded in compassion. I work to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can share at your own pace and ask questions about the process. You can expect me to listen closely, offer gentle guidance, and help you start identifying the concerns that feel most important to address. Clients often walk away from the first session with a clearer understanding of how therapy will work, what initial goals might look like, and a sense of relief that they don’t have to navigate things alone. I may introduce early coping strategies or small steps you can begin using between sessions, setting the tone for practical, empowering progress. Overall, your first session is about building comfort, establishing a strong foundation, and ensuring you feel supported, understood, and hopeful about the path ahead.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I blend deep clinical experience with a warm, practical, and highly collaborative style. I create a safe, steady space where clients feel understood while also gaining clear, actionable strategies they can use in daily life. My approach combines evidence-based methods—like CBT and solution-focused techniques—with genuine compassion, helping clients break unhelpful patterns, strengthen coping skills, and move toward meaningful change at a manageable pace. I work especially well with adults who want both emotional support and practical tools. I listen closely, communicate honestly yet gently, and tailors each session to the client’s goals and readiness. Whether someone is navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship struggles, substance use, or major life transitions, I help them feel grounded, empowered, and capable of making realistic progress. Clients often describe feeling more hopeful, more confident, and more equipped to handle challenges after working with me. My calm presence, collaborative mindset, and focus on achievable steps make me an ideal fit for those seeking therapy that is supportive, effective, and truly life-enhancing.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help individuals identify unhelpful thoughts and behavior patterns and replace them with more realistic, effective ones. With this approach, I guide clients to examine how their thinking influences their emotions and actions, then practice new skills to manage challenges more constructively. CBT is structured, goal-oriented, and focuses on building practical coping strategies that people can use in everyday situations.

Interpersonal

This approach allows focus on improving a person’s relationships and social functioning to reduce distress. In treatment, I will work with my clients to explore current interpersonal issues—such as role transitions, conflicts, grief, or social isolation—and develop healthier communication and relationship skills. IPT is structured and time-limited, emphasizing practical changes in a person’s interactions to support emotional well-being.

Motivational Interviewing

This is a collaborative, client-centered approach that I use to help individuals strengthen their own motivation and commitment to change. I use open-ended questions, reflective listening, and affirmation to explore ambivalence and draw out the person’s internal reasons for making positive changes. MI emphasizes autonomy and empowerment, guiding clients toward choices that align with their values and goals.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

With this approach I help individuals identify their strengths and envision practical steps toward their preferred future rather than focusing on problems. I work to guide clients to notice what is already working, set clear and achievable goals, and build on existing resources and successes. SFBT is brief, goal-oriented, and emphasizes small, realistic changes that can lead to meaningful improvements.

Supportive

The use of this approach allows focus on providing emotional support, encouragement, and practical guidance to help individuals cope with distress and strengthen their existing coping abilities. I will offer empathy, reassurance, and problem-solving assistance while reinforcing the client’s resilience and adaptive behaviors. This approach is flexible and non-directive, aiming to reduce distress and enhance functioning through a stable, supportive therapeutic relationship.
