During your first session, there are brief introductions. We will begin the intake process, which is a fancy word for asking you a lot of questions about your symptoms and current/past situations, as well as how your symptoms are making it harder for you to move forward and function in your day-to-day life. I also just want to get to know you, and where you are now. After gathering this information, we will begin discussing what you would like to work on and why that is important to you.
We have the power, me as a as a learned expert, with lived experience, as well as years of successful practice with others, and You, as a powerful soul that is an expert on your life with your knowledge and lived in experience, to help you feel safe again, and your needs more heard. I can generally walk a mile in your shoes and have great empathy, but also gently hold people accountable for the things they need to change. I will help teach you to identify and take care of your given responsibilities with more grace and ease by helping you discover the importance of setting strong boundaries with loved ones and others, leading to decreased resentment and decreased overuse of your personal resources that leave us upset and exhausted. I will also share tips and strategies to help you maintain your peace of mind. I will help you live as stress-free and enjoyable as possible. I can also help you manifest your destiny, which brings more peace, and we can walk together toward the changes you desire. Some of my greatest strengths are being friendly, caring, curious, and compassionate. I am experienced at helping others to heal, grow, and if desired, to connect with their Higher Power. If you would like, we will also explore and find your greatest Spiritual tools so that you can connect with your higher power to eventually trust yourself and the Universe/Your higher power to find and follow your own solutions intuitively.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I help you identify and change the negative thoughts and behaviors that contribute to your emotional problems. CBT is based on the idea that your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all interconnected, and that by changing your thoughts, we can change your feelings and behaviors. CBT is a short-term, goal-oriented therapy. This means that I will work with you to set specific goals for your therapy, and we will work together to achieve those goals.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
DBT is a type of talk therapy for clients who experience emotions very intensely and is commonly used for clients with borderline personality disorder, but I provide it for other mental health conditions as well. The main goals of DBT are to teach you how to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate your emotions, and improve your relationships with others.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is a type of psychotherapy that helps the yoy accept and cope with negative thoughts and feelings, and act in ways that align with your values and goals. ACT combines mindfulness, acceptance, and behavior change strategies. ACT is pronounced as "act" and is similar to cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in some ways.
Psychoeducation
Psychoeducation is a therapy intervention that involves the me providing you with information about your diagnosis, symptoms, or the method of treatment used. It is a structured and specific method of providing knowledge. Psychoeducational therapy is a form of education-based therapy that focus on providing education, training, and support. Psychoeducation is now considered one avenue of treatment for mental health disorders, and it is about learning skills for living with your condition.
Attachment-based
Our attachment styles originally form in childhood. Every child needs a consistent, loving person, they trust, who protects them, accepts them, models healthy emotions behaviors. Most of us, have insecure attachment styles. There are 3 types. Abuse, neglect, loss, bullying abandonment, poverty, getting our needs met only sometimes. These things mean we develop an anxiety. It could be to friend, a partner, a source of income. We may look well put together, but inside, quite the mess. However, this can show up many different ways. It depends on whether you go to is fight or flight, and if those are not working, there is always playing dead (collapse/freeze), or people pleasing (fawning). It also matters if you are passive, aggressive, or the combination. These are all stress and survival adaptations. Another is if you turned your morals, sensitivity, and empathy up super high, or turned them down to low. There have been so many new findings and advancements. Most folks have heard of PTSD, but then there is also adverse childhood events & complex trauma (cPTSD), & also now, developmental trauma disorder. This is where my expertise lies.

I’ve always strayed from talking to a therapist because I thought I would have it together or I would judge the fact that oh this person doesn’t know me, but today has really made a big impact on my thinking of Therapy👼🏾 and I really enjoyed my first session
