What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During your first session, there are brief introductions. We will begin the intake process, which is a fancy word for asking a lot of questions to get to know you. After gathering this information, we will begin discussing what you would like to work on and why that is important to you. There is no judgement here.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I help you identify and change the negative thoughts and behaviors that contribute to your emotional problems. CBT is based on the idea that your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all interconnected, and that by changing your thoughts, we can change your feelings and behaviors. CBT is a short-term, goal-oriented therapy. This means that I will work with you to set specific goals for your therapy, and we will work together to achieve those goals.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT is a type of talk therapy for clients who experience emotions very intensely and is commonly used for clients with borderline personality disorder, but I provide it for other mental health conditions as well. The main goals of DBT are to teach you how to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate your emotions, and improve your relationships with others.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is a type of psychotherapy that helps the yoy accept and cope with negative thoughts and feelings, and act in ways that align with your values and goals. ACT combines mindfulness, acceptance, and behavior change strategies. ACT is pronounced as "act" and is similar to cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in some ways.

Couples Counseling

Couples therapy explores current problems with the intent of resolving longstanding dysfunctional patterns. Couples counseling is short-term and often focuses on one matter only. Like other forms of talk therapy, couples therapy aims to relieve your distress and improve your functioning in an important sphere of life.

Psychoeducation

Psychoeducation is a therapy intervention that involves the me providing you with information about your diagnosis, symptoms, or the method of treatment used. It is a structured and specific method of providing knowledge. Psychoeducational therapy is a form of education-based therapy that focus on providing education, training, and support. Psychoeducation is now considered one avenue of treatment for mental health disorders, and it is about learning skills for living with your condition.
