I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW/LICSW). I am licensed in many states on the East Coast. I have been practicing for over 10 years; prior to that I worked with a women's shelter for victims of intimate partner violence and sexual assaults. Majority of my career was spent in the community mental health setting so I have experience working with a large variety of mental health concerns with an emphasis on anxiety, depression, trauma and grief.
Our first session will be an intake. I will tell you about myself and my practice but we will spend majority of the time getting to know your story and what brings you to therapy. This usually takes anywhere from 1-3 sessions, depending on how much you have to share, and is followed with goal development and treatment.
I am authentic. My clients feel comfortable, safe, and supported in our sessions. I work hard to protect your confidentiality and to assure that we are always focused on your goals. I always want you to have a voice and feel supported in our work together. Feeling safe in this space and being comfortable with your therapist, should always be the first priority.
While I am open to seeing clients for a variety of reasons, I have specialized experience working with trauma, depression, grief and anxiety. I am actively working towards certifications in: complex trauma, ADHD, Autism and Eating Disorders.
(ACT) is a form of therapy that helps you develop psychological flexibility by learning to accept your thoughts and feelings without judgment. We will use mindfulness techniques and values clarification that empower you to take committed action aligned with your values, even in the presence of difficult emotions or experiences. By fostering acceptance and mindfulness, ACT can help you overcome struggles with anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges, ultimately leading to a more meaningful and fulfilling life.
CBT is a type of therapy that focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior that contribute to distress. We will work to challenge negative thoughts and beliefs and develop healthier coping strategies to manage difficult emotions and situations. By learning to recognize and modify thought patterns, CBT can help you feel better and achieve your therapy goals more effectively.
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a type of therapy specifically designed to help individuals who have experienced trauma. We will work together to identify and challenge negative beliefs and thoughts related to the traumatic event. Through structured exercises and discussion, CPT aims to reduce distress and promote healing by helping you develop more adaptive ways of thinking about the trauma and its effects on your life.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a type of therapy that combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices. In DBT, you'll learn skills to manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and cope with distressing situations effectively. Through individual therapy, DBT helps you build a life worth living while reducing symptoms of emotional dysregulation issues.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a type of therapy designed to help individuals process traumatic memories and reduce distressing symptoms. In EMDR, you'll focus on specific traumatic memories while engaging in bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, to facilitate processing. Through this process, EMDR aims to alleviate the emotional distress associated with traumatic experiences and promote healing and resolution. I work with a combination of EMDR, CPT, and talk therapy to work through the trauma and develop a strong sense of self and resiliency.
