Hi there. My name is Jennifer. My current experience is as a licensed professional counselor & certified rehabilitation counselor. Telehealth is my jam. Surviving and thriving living this disabled life. My previous work experiences include working as a counselor in the following settings: private practice, in-home counseling, inpatient hospice care, as a special education teacher in the public school system, and as a hatha yoga/meditation teacher. I enjoy reading a lot. There always seems to be a book in hand these days, physical, audio, or digital. I'm a strong lover of black coffee. I enjoy writing, gardening, photography, walks, being out in nature, adaptive exercise/hiking, and playing puzzle/exploration video games, and board games.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

There are many modalities for many people. Because well, we are all different. No two people are the same. Each person and situation has a uniqueness and needs to be treated respectfully as such. I approach counseling by way of collaboration between the therapist (myself) and you (the client) in a safe space. It is you that is giving me permission to be on this journey with you. Therapy is individualized to the person I am working with; not a one-size-fits-all approach. Observing what you are dealing with from a multifaceted perspective, not only in parts. Meeting you where you are and working together towards insight and understanding. Finding strategies that fit your lifestyle so you can find ease from the suffering you may be faced with while seeing and building upon your strengths.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

Therapy is individualized to the person I am working with; not a one-size-fits-all approach. Observing what you are dealing with from a multifaceted perspective, not only in parts. Meeting you where you are and working together towards insight and understanding. Finding strategies that fit your lifestyle so you can find ease from the suffering you may be faced with while seeing and building upon your strengths. I will use treatment methods from acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavior therapy informed (DBT-informed), person-centered therapy (humanistic), mindfulness, motivational interviewing (MI), somatic (body-based), and compassion-focused therapy, just to name a few.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My counseling style is a warm, person-centered, nonjudgmental, and integrative approach. To healing & change, observation & action, and connection to self & others. All of us experience struggles & suffering in our lives. The focus is to acknowledge what is going on in your life while working towards change from a place of compassion. Focusing on your strengths.
