New to Grow
Hi! I'm Shenita, a licensed mental health counselor for the last 11 years. During this time, I've worked with veterans (battling mental health/substance abuse challenges), couples (relationship counseling), children (emotional regulation/behavior modification), and parenting (parenting psychoeducation). My clients would describe me as relatable, respectful, and dedicated to their personal growth. I approach therapy from a team perspective. My goal is to help my clients navigate this thing called life through self-empowerment, distress tolerance/healthy coping mechanisms, and the ability to pivot when necessary. Let me help you become the author of your own life's story!!
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
During our first session, I look forward to learning about the goals you have in therapy, your past experience with therapy (what you liked/disliked), and any fears/concerns you may have about therapy. I look forward to the start of building a trusting therapeutic relationship that will be the foundation of our time together.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My greatest strengths are my genuineness, my authenticity, and my ability to listen to understand. I recognize that you are the professional of your life. My role is to assist you in identifying areas of focus that we will process together.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My ideal clients are motivated to look inward and make necessary changes to live the life they desire.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I love the CBT approach to therapy as it helps individuals recognize the power of one's thoughts and how our thoughts influence how we feel and subsequently act or react to situations.
