Hi! I am glad you are here. Goldfinch Counseling Services is a space for you to find your way, learn new tools, and fully step into who you want to be. The Goldfinch is a bird that sheds its dull winter feathers, emerging vibrant yellow in the spring. It is a powerful metaphor for the therapeutic process in which you discover how old patterns, compulsions, fear need to be shed so you can emerge into who you want to be.

First session

I strive to create a safe environment where you feel heard and understood. It can be really hard and scary to disclose OCD intrusive thoughts or even just show up and pour your heart out to a stranger. I hope to make you comfortable while getting a thorough understanding of your biological, psychological, and social history with a current picture of the frequency and intensity of your symptoms. After we obtain a good assessment, we develop a treatment plan together to ensure that therapy is relevant and moving in a direction that helps you progress.

Strengths

My approach is practical, skills-based, and you-centered, so you'll leave sessions with real tools you can use in your actual life, not just insight you talk about and then set aside. That said, I don't believe in skipping the "why." Understanding where your patterns come from matters, and we do that work too, but it's in service of helping you change, not just talk about change. I'm not a fan of therapy that goes in circles with no forward movement.

Ideal clients

You might be coming to this page carrying a lot, but I am here to help you navigate the process. I see those who identify as women at any life stage who are juggling work, family, and high standards. You may be anxious, with racing or intrusive thoughts, social anxiety, burned out, and often stuck in overthinking, needing a space where you can breathe and be open without judgment. You might be a mom with kids at various stages, or just considering starting a family, or struggling in the thick of postpartum. The mental load on women is a unique thing to. carry especially if you are dealing with anxiety and fear of failure.

Treatment methods

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)

ERP is the gold-standard approach for OCD and anxiety, helping you regain control over intrusive thoughts and respond differently to them so that they are no longer running your life.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is designed to help you change your relationship with difficult thoughts and feelings, rather than trying to eliminate them. The goal is psychological flexibility, learning to make room for painful emotions so you can take meaningful action toward the life you want.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness (awareness of emotions, gathering, expanding) is one of the most effective forms of therapy and I have watched clients implement this into their daily life and experience a significant symptom reduction.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a structured, 12-session evidence-based protocol designed primarily for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and trauma recovery.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

I incorporate training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) into my trauma-informed practice. Though not fully IFS-certified, I use its core strategies to guide clients through childhood processing, helping them explore protective parts, process past wounds, and restore internal balance.
