Valerie Denogean
Hi! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with nearly 10 years of experience helping people navigate life's challenges. I believe therapy should be comfortable, safe, and without pressure. My approach is warm and down to earth.
I've spent nearly 10 years working in different areas of social work, including hospice, crisis intervention, schools, child welfare.
I strive to create a supportive environment where can explore what's going on in your life, identify patterns, and work towards meaningful change. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, navigating relationships, or looking for support, I am here to help.
Strengths
I bring a variety of experience to my session. I've spent nearly 10 years working in different areas of social work, including hospice, crisis intervention, schools, child welfare. These experiences have helped me understand people from many different backgrounds and walks of life. I also bring a nonjudgmental attitude, an open mind, and a sense of humor. I want my clients to know that they can talk openly without fear and judgment and that there is room for laughter along the way.
Ideal clients
My clients come from all walks of life, and I work with diverse populations. My clients may be feeling stuck, anxious, or depressed. They may be going through a life transition, trying to grow as a person, or trying to make their life better. You don't have to have everything figured out or know exactly what you want to work on. I'm here to help you explore what's going on and figure out what works for you.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use multiple treatment types including CBT, DBT, IFS, and EDMR. I use CBT to help clients recognize thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and how they influence each other. Together, we can identify unhelpful patterns, challenge negative thinking, and develop practical ways to manage emotions and situations. I use DBT skills to help clients manage overwhelming emotions, cope with stress, improve communication, and navigate relationships. I use an IFS-informed approach to help clients explore different parts of themselves. We work towards understanding these patterns with curiosity and compassion rather than judgement. I use EMDR to help clients process distressing experiences. We work at a pace that feels manageable with an emphasis on safety, preparation, and reducing the impact of past experiences.
