New to Grow
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 35 years of experience. My personal experiences with depression and anxiety as a teenager inspired me to become a therapist. Originally from Chicago, I have lived in Phoenix and enjoy the western US lifestyle. I hope to return to Phoenix one day. Outside of work, I enjoy time with my two adult children, family, and friends, as well as travel, good food, and animal rescue.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Our first session is an opportunity for us to determine whether we are a good match for therapy. I generally ask a lot of questions about you and the issues bringing you for treatment. I will also give you an opportunity to ask me questions. While I am direct, I am also warm and compassionate so care will be given to helping you feel at ease.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
As a “wounded healer”, I bring both professional expertise and personal insight to my practice. I tailor therapy to each client’s unique needs and learning style, using evidence-based approaches including solution-focused therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), ART, and EMDR.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I work well with people of all ages but prefer adults and adolescents. I have a special interest in working with seniors and women. I treat a variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, life transitions, grief and trauma.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I have used this approach my entire career to gather information and provide positive regard/feedback.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have used this approach for my entire career. I believe in the strength of using your mind to shape your mood.
Couples Counseling
All of my training, education and experience has included working with couples.
Gottman method
The Gottman Method is the treatment of choice for couples treatment. This approach is strength based that is positive and affirming.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I have used solution focused therapy my entire career. It is not only evidenced based, it's effective and positive.
