LISW, 3 years of experience
New to Grow
Hi! I'm Charlotte I am an independently licensed social worker in the state of Ohio. I have a background in yoga and meditation, and I enjoy bringing these modalities into the therapy room. My hobbies include anything outdoors- hiking, camping, running, biking, etc. I find a lot of inspiration from traveling, and I hope that this has made me a more well-rounded, open-minded clinician.
During our first session together, I will give a brief introduction to help the client feel at ease and to see if I am a good fit. I'll ask background questions to understand your preferences for therapeutic styles and work on building rapport that way. I like to get an idea of a person's past therapy experiences, what their current coping skills are, and information on the problem area that the client is hoping to address.
I believe I am a great therapist because I put forth the effort to understand clients' needs and work with them to achieve their goals. I have an approach that combines the clinical, practical, and intuitive that helps us get to to the core of underlying beliefs that the client is working on resolving, whether that be adjusting to life changes, working on healthier relationships with self or other, or changing lifestyle habits.
I enjoy working with people of all ages, but generally young adults who are working on peer relationships, self esteem, anxiety, and making lifestyle changes. I have experience working with couples and enjoy helping clients build healthier, more connected relationships through identifying patterns and employing new communication strategies. I hope that when people come to work with me they are feeling motivated to feel healthier and are willing to identity goals together.
By using a holistic, positive, person-centered approach in therapy I help clients identify limiting beliefs and patterns to decrease anxiety, depression, and improve ones relationship with themselves and with others. I ask questions designed to understand contributing lifestyle choices/factors that impact a client's well being, and we can work together to formulate a plan to make positive changes.
Attachment based therapy is used as a way to help the client understand their relationship to themselves and to other people through the process of exploring early childhood experiences. By working towards building a secure attachment, a client can develop higher self esteem and interpersonal relational skills.
When processing difficult life experiences a person often holds stress and tension in areas of their body unconsciously. This can contribute to postural changes, shortness of breath, appetite changes, irregular sleep, and more. When talking, I ask questions designed to help us understand how the body is holding onto emotions as well as grounding/self-soothing techniques to manage this tension.
