New to Grow
Hello! My name is Simon Walsh, and I am a fully licensed professional counselor and nationally certified counselor. In my clinical work, I support lasting change rather than quick symptom relief. We will work together to heal attachment wounds and rewrite relational scripts in collaborative, curiosity-driven sessions. I help clients navigate identity, sexuality, and relational issues, while offering an affirming space where Queer adults facing shame, anxiety, or depression feel genuinely supported.
Your first session with me might look different than subsequent sessions. Our first session is really just about us getting to know each other, with me asking questions about your background, and getting an understanding of what is bringing you into therapy. The following sessions will be centered around creating a comprehensive treatment plan that outlines your goals in what you would like to work on in therapy, while continuing to focus on building the therapeutic relationship.
I prioritize building a safe and comfortable environment for us to have deep and meaningful conversations. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is an integral part of the therapeutic process, and I enjoy working with clients of many backgrounds. I am trained in a variety of treatment methods and approaches, and I understand that no two people are alike. Thus, I adjust my treatment approach with each client, with the overarching goal of working with you in moving you closer towards your goals, values, and desires.
Let’s be honest: something hurts. Maybe it’s a relationship that’s unraveling, a sense of disconnection in your sex life, or a gnawing question about who you are and where you belong. Maybe you’ve been carrying the weight of shame, confusion, or invisibility for far too long. And in this moment, you’re searching for something more. Relief. Clarity. Change. If you’re navigating identity, intimacy, or the ache of transition, especially as someone under the Queer umbrella, you know how heavy it can feel. The world isn’t always kind to complexity. Whatever it is that has brought you to my profile, I am here to support you.
I use principles of ACT to help clients accept their pain and commit towards their values in building a rich and meaningful life.
I work with clients to grow their social interest and engagement.
I work with clients to build aspects of compassion and work towards identifying areas in which to integrate self-compassion practices.
With this treatment method we can focus on emotions, the purpose of emotions, and how to build a relationship towards our emotions.
I often use DBT with certain clients looking to enhance their skill building regarding distress tolerance, interpersonal relationships, mindfulness, and emotion regulation.
