In our first session together, here's what you can expect
During your first therapy session, you can expect a welcoming and supportive environment focused on understanding your needs and goals. We will complete an intake and may use brief assessment scales to better understand your symptoms, strengths, and concerns. This information helps guide the development of a personalized treatment plan tailored to support your growth, healing, and overall well-being.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My therapeutic strengths include a kind, nonjudgmental approach and over 32 years of experience working with clients from all walks of life, creating a safe space where open conversation leads to meaningful change.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where people from all backgrounds are welcomed and respected. I value diversity, inclusion, and the unique experiences that shape who you are, including culture, race, gender identity, sexual orientation, and life stage. I work with young adults, older adults, individuals, couples, and families navigating a wide range of concerns. I support clients who are struggling with depression, anxiety, substance use, parenting challenges, relationship concerns, family conflict, and grief or loss. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or simply seeking personal growth, therapy can be a place to explore your experiences, build insight, and develop healthier coping strategies. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your individual needs. Together, we will work toward healing, balance, and meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) can be effectively used in my private practice by helping clients identify their strengths, resources, and past successes to create meaningful change in a short period of time. Rather than focusing heavily on problems, sessions emphasize clear goals, practical solutions, and small, achievable steps that lead to progress. This approach empowers clients to feel hopeful, capable, and actively engaged in building the future they want.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can be used in my private practice to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts and beliefs that contribute to emotional distress and maladaptive behaviors. Sessions focus on building practical coping skills, emotional regulation strategies, and behavior changes that support symptom relief and improved daily functioning.
Psychoeducation
Psychoeducation can be used in my private practice to help clients better understand their mental health conditions, emotional responses, and the mind–body connection. By providing clear, supportive education about symptoms, triggers, and coping strategies, clients feel more empowered and less overwhelmed by their experiences. This approach enhances insight, reduces stigma, and supports clients in actively participating in their own healing and treatment goals.
