Hello there! I am a licensed therapist living in Tucson, AZ. and I currently work with adults including seniors, veterans, neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ communities. I focus on helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, anger, and grief and loss, incorporating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) strategies into our work together. I enjoy providing an honest, open, and supportive space where you can freely share both your struggles and your triumphs. I use humor, honesty, empathy, sincerity, supportive listening, and down-to-earth communication to foster, build, and strengthen our therapeutic relationship. My goal is to create a space where you can feel comfortable being yourself while we work together toward meaningful change.

First session

The initial assessment will give us a chance to get to talk and ask questions. First meetings can cause some nerves but this will be a first step towards building our therapeutic alliance by allowing you to be yourself and identify what matters to you.. Towards the end of the assessment we will set some goals and schedule additional sessions. It is always my aim is to make you feel welcomed, valued, heard, and encouraged.

Strengths

I believe you are the expert in your own life while my job is to be a collaborative guide who brings experience, perspective, and therapeutic tools to our work together. When we develop goals we will make sure they reflect what is meaningful to you and align with your values rather than simply following a predetermined path. I also believe therapy should be flexible. We will regularly review your progress, consider what is and isn't working, and adapt goals and objectives as you gain new knowledge and put new skills into practice. My approach is collaborative, practical, and grounded in the belief that meaningful change is most sustainable when you are an active participant in creating it.

Ideal clients

My ideal clients are adults who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or dissatisfied with some aspect of their lives and want to develop more effective ways of coping and moving forward. I enjoy working with people experiencing anxiety, life transitions, relationship difficulties, self/criticism, perfectionism, or challenges with motivation of follow-through. I work well with clients who are thoughtful and willing to explore patterns that are likely keeping them stuck while also wanting practical strategies they can apply in everyday life. My approach draws primarily from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with an emphasis on developing greater self-awareness, flexibility, self-compassion, and skills for managing difficult thoughts and emotions.

Treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients develop a different relationship with difficult thoughts and emotions rather than feeling they have to eliminate or control them before they can move forward. Together, we explore the thoughts, feelings, and patterns that may be getting in the way of living the life you want. We work on becoming more aware of these experiences without automatically letting them determine what you do next. ACT is not about simply accepting difficult circumstances or "thinking positively." It is about developing greater psychological flexibility, learning how to make room for uncomfortable experiences while still taking actions that are consistent with what matters to you.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and how these patterns can affect the way they experience and respond to situations. Together, we identify patterns than may be contributing to low mood, lack of motivation, relationship difficulties, or other challenges. We then work on developing more balanced and helpful ways of thinking, building practical coping skills, and trying new behaviors to support your goals.
