I help women move from feeling overwhelmed and stuck to feeling calm, confident, and in control of their lives through a results-driven, supportive, and relatable approach. You’re looking for more than just talk, you want practical tools and a results-driven approach that helps you find relief and move forward. In our work together, we’ll create strategies that support you in shifting from feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or stuck to becoming calmer, more organized, confident, and self-aware. I understand these challenges on a personal level. Having navigated divorce, high stress, and periods of feeling overburdened, I bring a grounded and relatable perspective to therapy. My firsthand experience allows me to hold space where women feel safe, supported, and comfortable being both vulnerable and authentic, so they can begin creating meaningful change in their lives.
In our first session, we’ll start with a brief introduction and get to know each other. I’ll guide you through a simple assessment to better understand your current concerns and the reasons you’re seeking counseling right now. Together, we’ll discuss your goals and what you hope to achieve through our work. This session is also your opportunity to ask questions about the counseling process, so you feel informed, comfortable, and confident as we move forward.
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is helping clients feel empowered to take control of their own lives. I focus on equipping you with practical tools and positive coping strategies so you can navigate stress, anxiety, and everyday challenges with more confidence and balance. My approach emphasizes both emotional awareness and action helping you manage your responses in healthier ways while also setting and maintaining strong boundaries. Whether it’s with family, friends, work, parenting, or relationships, I provide the support and strategies you need to create lasting change and a greater sense of peace.
I work best with women who are ready to manage stress, set healthier boundaries, and navigate major life transitions. Whether moving through divorce, breakups, or grief after loss, my clients are seeking a safe, supportive space to heal, rebuild, and rediscover their strength.
Integrating Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) into my practice involves creating a positive and optimistic environment where you are motivated to identify your strengths and develop your own solutions. This approach aims to build your sense of empowerment and self-assurance as you strive to reach your goals and bring about positive changes in your life.
Supportive therapy is a therapeutic approach designed to offer emotional support, encouragement, and understanding to individuals dealing with various challenges, stressors, or life difficulties. In my practice, I emphasize building a strong therapeutic alliance, validating clients' experiences, and providing practical assistance. This approach is versatile and can be integrated into various therapeutic modalities to address each client's unique needs. By incorporating supportive therapy, I create a compassionate and supportive environment that fosters personal growth and healing.
I have extensive experience utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based approach that helps clients identify and reframe unhelpful thought patterns that contribute to stress, anxiety, and overwhelm. Over the years, I’ve guided clients in developing practical coping strategies, building healthier behavioral habits, and cultivating a more balanced mindset. My use of CBT is always tailored to each client’s unique needs, whether that means challenging negative self-talk, learning to set boundaries, or creating actionable steps toward personal goals. By combining structured techniques with compassionate support, I help clients not only gain insight into their thought patterns but also achieve meaningful, lasting change in their daily lives.
I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help women manage stress, break free from people-pleasing, and set healthier boundaries. This approach teaches you how to face difficult emotions without letting them control you, while focusing on healing from past relationships and building a life that reflects your true values and priorities.

Stephanie is authenic and very real. I love how she reassures how I am feeling and gives me practical steps to follow. I love the fact that she understands my needs and thoughts as an African American woman

I came to Stephanie Rush because I am going through a very difficult divorce and in our first session she made me feel very comfortable and at ease. It was very easy talking to her and the time went by so quickly. I can't wait until my next appointment.
