Hi there, I'm Heather. I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and split my time between Arizona and Oregon. I am licensed in both states, as well as Washington. Originally from California, I completed undergrad at University of CA at Santa Barbara, and I received my Masters Degree from San Francisco State University. I have been practicing since 2006. I especially love helping adults live with more intention, awareness and self-compassion.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session will be relaxed, an opportunity to get to know all about what makes you you. It's perfectly ok, and completely normal, to be nervous. I will take the lead and ask questions about your background as well as your hopes and goals for therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strength as a provider is seeing the beauty in all humans. You will often hear me saying "it's so hard to be human" because it truly is an act of courage to walk this earth. I treat everyone with the respect, dignity, compassion and the empathy they deserve to heal through difficult times.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with adults who are curious about the world, and life in general. I get lit up when people desire to live differently but aren't quite sure how to take the first step. My practice is built on collaboration and trust with a little humor thrown in. I especially love those who are "willing" to do the work even if they don't have a vision of what that looks like. Our work is always collaborative and I truly believe you are the expert in your own life, I'm just there to help you see that!

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I believe that within each of us, lies the capacity to grow, heal and learn to live in harmony with our life's purpose. In our work together I use playfulness, kindness, compassion and accountability to help you tap into your inherent strengths in order to navigate life's challenges. Together we will uncover patterns that are keeping you stuck and explore different ways to cope, leading to a more peaceful and satisfying life.

Compassion Focused

I use evidenced based practices when working with people experiencing depression, anxiety, difficulty with life transitions and difficulty in relationships. Through our work together, my hope is that you will learn to cope more effectively, build resilience, and strengthen your foundation to face future difficulties. I especially love working with clients on building self awareness and cultivating an enriching relationship with themselves. Self compassion truly is key to living a life with intention, confidence and joy!

Supportive

I believe that when we take the time to truly cultivate a meaningful relationship with ourselves, we seek guidance from others to mirror what we already know. I am dedicated to doing my best to guide and support you in your journey, and will always strive to enhance your ability to trust and access your innate wisdom.
