PMHNP, 15 years of experience
I'm Marsha Desrosiers, a dedicated board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with over 15 years of experience providing compassionate mental health care. As a New Yorker, I've had the privilege of working with a diverse population, fostering a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by individuals from all walks of life. After graduating from high school, I attended St. Joseph's College in Brooklyn, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Adelphi University and later obtained a Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in psychiatric mental health from Molloy University. As a PMHNP-BC, I specialize in providing comprehensive mental health care to patients across the lifespan. My expertise lies in developing personalized treatment plans that address a wide range of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, personality disorders, mood disorders, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. I utilize evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) to empower individuals to overcome challenges and achieve lasting mental health. From my early days as a secretary in psychiatry to becoming a nurse practitioner, I've gained invaluable insights into the complexities of mental health. The COVID-19 pandemic underscored the urgent need for accessible mental healthcare, and fueled by my passion for helping individuals reach their full potential, I founded Blackstone Psychiatry.
Your first session is about you, your concerns, goals, and hopes for treatment. Together, we’ll: -Discuss what brought you to care -Identify your priorities and treatment goals -Explore strengths and resources you already have -Create an initial plan that may include therapy, medication, or both -You’ll leave the first session with a clearer path forward and the reassurance that you are not navigating this alone.
My Strengths as a Provider: -Empathy & Connection – I listen without judgment and create space for honest conversation. -Holistic Approach – I look beyond symptoms, considering your full health and life context. -Solution-Focused Care – I emphasize practical, strengths-based strategies to create change. -Experience & Adaptability – I bring 15+ years of expertise and stay current with research to deliver the best care. At Blackstone Psychiatry, you’ll find a balance of compassion, expertise, and practical solutions designed to help you reclaim your mental health and achieve lasting wellbeing.
A majority of the clients I work with are adults and adolescents seeking support with: -Depression and other mood disorders -Anxiety, panic, and excessive worry -ADHD and attention/focus difficulties -PTSD and trauma-related symptoms -Personality disorders and emotional regulation challenges -Sleep disturbances and stress-related concerns Whether you’re facing a major life transition, working to break long-standing patterns, or seeking clarity about your diagnosis, I provide evidence-based tools and compassionate support to help you move forward with confidence.
In my practice, I have found SFBT to be highly effective for patients who are dealing with a variety of issues, such as anxiety, stress, and situational depression. The focus on solutions rather than problems resonates well with patients who are motivated to see tangible progress in a relatively short period. I have used this method in both individual and group settings, adapting the approach to fit the unique needs of each patient.
