Hi there, I'm Leslie. Do you often find yourself overwhelmed by the demands of a busy life? Maybe you feel like something is "off" that you cannot quite identify. You may feel disconnected and experience frequent low moods. You might be someone who has been diagnosed or self-identified as neurodivergent, or you may be raising a neurodivergent child and feeling lost in coping with your feelings about how to navigate that challenge. You might be stuck in (or exiting) a romantic relationship that does not serve you, but you are struggling to find your path forward. Whatever the source of your anxiety, I am here to help! I support individuals across a spectrum of ages and circumstances to understand how to find their footing in their daily lives. I use a unique person-centered behavioral approach that is affirming and includes action steps to access change. When you meet with me, you will hear "real talk" grounded in evidenced-based techniques. Together we will discover a path to a more manageable daily life that fits your specific circumstances. Congratulations on taking the step to seek support through therapy. l look forward to working together!
During our first session, we will get to know each other. I want to hear what you feel is most important about your story. This is also an opportunity for you to ask me questions and find out if we both think this is a good fit therapeutically.
My strengths lie in my ability to connect with empathy and support individuals to find solutions that fit their specific circumstances. I have worked with kids, teens, and adults who face a variety of challenges. Many of my clients have struggled in relationships with individuals with narcissistic traits. Due to my unique combination of licensures (LCSW & BCBA), I have had the opportunity to connect with hundreds of individuals and families who are navigating life as neurodivergent humans in a neurotypical world. I especially enjoy working with parents raising a neurodivergent child.
Using ACT methodology, we will discover the values that underpin your decision-making. We will explore how mindfulness strategies can provide building blocks to addressing emotional dysregulation. We will also explore the concept of psychological flexibility in relation to tolerating stress for the purpose of living in alignment with your personal values.
Foundational to my practice are the concepts of empathy, unconditional positive regard, and congruence. Through applying these in sessions, we will create a comfortable space to fully explore fears and biases that may be interfering with your happiness.
I use a variety of tools from this therapeutic approach, as they provide practical solutions to address emotional dysregulation and difficulties in relationships.
When appropriate, I use this treatment approach to address distorted thoughts and uncover the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
