New to Grow
Hi, I'm Kendra. I am a licensed clinical social worker who has been working in the mental health field for 10 years. I am from the state of Indiana, and I have lived in Tennessee for 4 years now. I have worked in foster care, substance abuse, family preservation, virtual intensive outpatient, acute psychiatric facilities, and private practice. I use cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, motivational therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy informed skills.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In the first session, we'll get to know each other, discuss goals, and start to get an understanding of each other.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
As a therapist, I believe that I do a great job of holding an open space so that you can be authentically who you are so we can navigate life challenges. Navigating barriers and challenging harmful thought patterns or habits is something I work on, but I recognize that not every session needs to constantly be heavy. It's also hugely important to me that people feel comfortable so I love to know what approaches work and don't. Communication is important! I've done a significant amount of work in trauma, anxiety, and depression, and I feel as if I'm able to support those who work with me through to the healing and daily life they want to live.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
As someone who believes that clients and therapists are a team, I believe the best client fit for me is someone open-minded, ready to explore, willing to challenge themselves, and able to collaborate. I believe that you, the client, have the expertise in you, and I'm here to provide my tools and expertise to assist in wherever you need.
Eclectic
I use a mixture of therapy methods, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational therapy, and solution-focused brief therapy with dialectical behavioral therapy informed skills to support clients with a wide range of mental health needs.
