New to Grow
Hi, I'm Anna and I've been practicing in the field of mental health for over a decade. I enjoy providing a spacious and non-judgmental environment where clients can process their experiences and gain a deeper understanding of themselves, their histories and their present desires. Clients have described me as warm, down to earth and genuinely present. My approach is straightforward, collaborative, and endeavors to be empowering. My therapy style is relational, and focuses on emotion & body connection. I see myself as a fellow traveler, joining you on this path, sprinkling in humor when it’s called for. Finding comfort in the therapeutic relationship matters, I encourage you to take your time in your search and listen to what feels right to you.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, I'll get the chance to hear more in depth what brought you to therapy as this moment in time and what your priorities are for our work together. We'll go at a pace that feels spacious and supportive, taking the time to let your story and goals unfold as we begin to meet each other.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My clients have often noted my ability to remain deeply present with what arises for them in each moment, allowing silence alongside emotion and offering gentle and direct reflections when the time is right. My goal is to support my clients in increasing their ability to see themselves more clearly, even the scarier parts, while remaining non-judgmental and loving.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
Maybe you struggle to put your needs first, have lost connection with your center, or maybe you find yourself stuck in a dissatisfying relational pattern that you are looking to disrupt. This could be affecting romantic relationships, communication, family dynamics, and/or your ability to enjoy life and your relationship to self. If you are looking to become more aligned with yourself and your own goals, to create a life that fulfills your needs while balancing those around you, you have come to the right place. I offer safe and affirming relationship and individual therapy for adults and couples of all identities, with a specialty in working with LGBTQ+, Poly/non-monogomous, kinky & Non Binary communities. I work with clients who struggle with self-identity, self-worth, anxiety, codependency, relationships, and trauma. I pull from my training in Gestalt, mindfulness, emotion-focused, IFS and attachment theory to create an environment that allows you to develop a greater understanding of what’s holding you back from the life you want.
Attachment-based
I use attachment theory to support my clients with familial and/or childhood attachment trauma and wounds that may be affecting current relationships and have been studying this form for over a decade.
Couples Counseling
I've been trained in EFT couples therapy, and enjoyed using this grounding to support clients navigating unmet needs and learning to move through conflict in relationships that have been feeling stuck in a cycle. I also will integrate more direct gottman methods when needed.
Gestalt
My theoretical orientation is in relational gestalt therapy, with a respect for the impact of attachment history and how it affects the lives of the client's I work with in the here and now. We might focus on the various parts of oneself that are interacting and creating challenges. Ultimately, I join my clients as a fellow traveler in their healing and support them in exploration of finding wholeness and authenticity with themselves.
Trauma Informed Care
I've been trained in trauma-informed care from my very first counseling job about a decade ago and continue to use this framework as a way to offer a safe and non-judgmental holding environment for clients who may have trauma histories. I bring clear questions and consideration for various aspects of a clients history, focus on building a groundwork of trust, transparency and autonomy in the relationship, and consider the importance of mindful titration and pacing when opening up potentially triggering material.
Gender-affirming therapy
I have years of history working with the gender queer, trans and non-binary populations in various settings and have supported clients who are exploring gender identity, beginning the process of transitioning, or seeking gender-affirming medical care and need a safe place to process navigating the world we live in while going through these processes.
