About me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, but I am a person first. I love geeky things like reading fantasy books, getting together with my D&D group, and trying my best to win every board game my wife and I face off in. When you come to counseling, you bring in more than just the things you are struggling with now, but also everything else that makes you who you are. I value getting to know the people I have the privilege of working with and strive to be authentic in every session.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, my main goal is to get to know you, who you are as a person. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you to counseling, what you hope to get out of it, and what’s most important to you in this process. I’ll ask about your interests, values, and anything you feel comfortable sharing that helps me understand how to best support you. It’s also a chance for you to get a sense of how I work and to provide a space that feels safe and supportive to help you decide if it's aligned with what you’re looking for. I’ll be clear about what to expect in therapy, open to any questions you have, and focused on building a collaborative relationship where you feel heard and accepted.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My communication style is direct, but always grounded in compassion. I believe in being authentic and honest, especially when it comes to supporting your growth and helping you stay aligned with your goals. At the same time, I aim to be gentle and nonjudgmental—meeting you where you are and honoring your experiences. Clients often tell me they appreciate that I don’t sugarcoat things, but I always deliver feedback with care, humor when it helps, and deep respect for what you're going through. Therapy should feel like a space where you can be fully yourself, and know I’ll show up the same way. I help clients reach their goals by staying collaborative, curious, and focused on what matters most to them. In our work together, we’ll get clear on what you want to change or understand better—whether that’s shifting how you relate to yourself, navigating a tough relationship, or weathering a rough season of life. I’ll support you in identifying patterns, developing skills, and taking meaningful steps forward, but I’m not here to tell you what to do or drag you toward a goal you’re not ready for. Sometimes that means slowing down and holding space. Other times, it means gently challenging you, reminding you that what you said mattered, and helping you figure out how to move toward that even when things feel messy. I’m here to reflect, ask the hard questions, celebrate wins (big and small), and keep us grounded in what growth looks like for you, rather than a checklist.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am passionate about working with marginalized groups, whether that is based on gender, sexuality, race, or neurodiversity. I also have extensive experience working with relationship problems, spirituality concerns, men’s issues, and suicidal thoughts. I use an integrative and person-centered style that includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-focused Therapy (SFT), and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), among others, in order to meet the varying needs of each person’s unique experience.

My treatment methods

Humanistic

My style is very compassionate and empathetic, with my top priority being: making sure you feel heard and validated in your experiences. While I am supportive, I have been known to bring the receipts and keep my clients accountable to their goals and the changes they want to make. I feel there is a balance between challenging clients to make progress and recognizing that, oftentimes, life can be brutal, throwing one thing after the other at us. Life can be incredibly stressful, and having a validating space to process, reflect, or gain insight can make all the difference.
