New to Grow
As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I believe each individual is the expert of their own life, with a unique story, identity, and set of experiences. I recognize that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process, which is why I draw from a range of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and other; to meet the distinct needs of every individual, couple, and family I work with. My approach is rooted in the belief that healing and growth occur when clients feel truly seen, heard, and accepted. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental, and supportive space where people of all ages—children, young adults, adults, couples, and families; can explore their challenges, develop deeper self-understanding, and strengthen their relationships. I place a strong emphasis on building a trusting therapeutic relationship, and I am committed to offering each person unconditional positive regard, authenticity, and respect as they move toward healing and wholeness.
The first therapy session is an opportunity for us to begin building a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship—one where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to share your story at your own pace. As a client-centered therapist, my goal is to meet you where you are, without judgment or pressure, and to create a space where you feel comfortable being your authentic self. During this initial session, we will explore what brings you to therapy, what concerns or challenges you're currently facing, and what goals you may have. Rather than following a rigid structure, I take a collaborative and flexible approach, allowing you to guide the conversation in the direction that feels most meaningful for you. You’re welcome to share as much or as little as you feel ready to—there is no pressure to "have it all figured out." We may also discuss your history, your strengths, and any previous therapy experiences, as well as logistical topics such as confidentiality, boundaries, and what you can expect from our work together. Most importantly, the first session is about building a connection and helping you feel seen and supported as we begin your therapeutic journey.
Trust is at the heart of the therapeutic relationship, and I deeply respect the courage it takes to open up and seek support. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I am committed to providing a safe, nonjudgmental, and confidential space where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and valued. I approach each client with empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard—meeting you where you are, without assumptions or expectations. My work is grounded in evidence-based practices, and I tailor each session to your unique needs, goals, and pace. I bring not only clinical expertise, but also a genuine dedication to building a collaborative relationship based on respect, transparency, and compassion. You are the expert of your own experience, and I am here to support and guide you—not to direct or define your journey. Therapy is most effective when there is trust, and I take that responsibility seriously. My priority is to earn that trust through consistency, professionalism, and the creation of a space where you feel safe to be fully yourself.
There is no "right" way to be before beginning therapy. You don’t need to have everything figured out, know exactly what to say, or even fully understand what you’re feeling. Starting therapy simply requires a willingness to show up, be open to the process, and take a first step toward change or healing—whatever that may look like for you. Some clients come to therapy with clear goals in mind, while others feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of where to begin. Both are completely valid. You might be dealing with specific issues like anxiety, relationship challenges, or past trauma, or you may just have a sense that something isn't quite right. All of that is welcome in the therapy space. What matters most is your readiness to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences in a safe and supportive environment. You don't need to be at a crisis point. You don’t need to be “ready to talk about everything.” You just need to be open to starting wherever you are—and together, we’ll build from there.
I incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) into my clinical work to support clients in navigating life’s challenges and improving their overall mental health. Grounded in evidence-based principles, ACT allows me to help individuals develop greater psychological flexibility, identify their values, and take committed action toward meaningful change. Through this approach, I guide clients in building acceptance of difficult thoughts and emotions while fostering deeper engagement with the present moment. My use of ACT is tailored to each individual’s needs, offering a compassionate, structured framework for working through stress, anxiety, and other emotional concerns.
My clinical approach is grounded in attachment-based therapy, which emphasizes the importance of early relational experiences in shaping emotional well-being and interpersonal functioning. I work with clients to explore how past attachment patterns influence current relationships, self-perception, and coping strategies. By creating a secure, therapeutic relationship, I support clients in developing healthier emotional connections, improving self-regulation, and fostering a stronger sense of self. This approach is particularly effective in addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship difficulties, and allows for deep, meaningful healing within a safe and supportive environment. Let me know if you’d like to integrate this with the ACT statement or personalize it further with your clinical population (e.g., adults, couples, trauma survivors).
I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a structured, evidence-based approach to help clients identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. CBT allows clients to better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and actions, and empowers them with practical tools to manage symptoms of anxiety, depression, stress, and other mental health concerns. Through collaborative goal setting and skill-building, I support clients in developing healthier coping strategies, increasing self-awareness, and making meaningful, lasting changes in their daily lives.
I integrate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) into my clinical work to help clients build emotional resilience, develop effective coping skills, and create more balanced and fulfilling lives. DBT combines cognitive-behavioral strategies with mindfulness-based practices, offering a structured and evidence-based approach for individuals struggling with emotion dysregulation, interpersonal difficulties, and patterns of impulsive or self-destructive behavior. Through the development of core DBT skills; including distress tolerance, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. I support clients in cultivating greater self-awareness, emotional stability, and healthier relationships.
