I have over 30 years of experience supporting individuals through life's challenges. I'm passionate about helping people navigate their needs by offering practical support and meaningful skill-building. I believe the therapeutic relationship is the foundation of effective work, and I strive to create a warm, person-centered space where clients feel understood, empowered, and engaged. I view therapy as a rewarding process-and at times, even a little fun.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

People can have different feelings about entering therapy, especially if it is their first time. Being a little nervous is normal. Getting to know one another, what your expectations are, and most importantly what goals you have is the first step. I will ask questions about important moments and events in your life that shaped you. I will review the process of therapy, confidentiality, cancellation policy and allow you to ask questions of me that will help you feel more comfortable. But there is never any pressure to share anything you are not ready to discuss.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I utilize motivational interviewing and behavioral activation techniques to help identify where folks are in the process of change and to find areas where they might be able to start making small changes at their pace when they are ready. I find that using different approaches (person-centered, cognitive behavioral therapy for instance) varies from client to client. I try to tailor interventions to the client with whom I am working. I am a warm, caring person and easy to talk to. I will partner with you in the very important process of self-exploration and discovery. It will be an open, caring, non-judgmental space where you can feel comfortable to be yourself and grow. My sessions also welcome levity and laughter, as these are an important part of the human experience as well.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I partner with client who are motivated and ready to do the work of change. My approach offers steady support as you step out of your comfort zone and move toward the life you want. I believe that if nothing changes, nothing changes-and I match the commitment and energy you bring to the process. Change can come in the way of how a person thinks as well as how a person behaves. While I don't tell clients what choices to make, I help them explore their options and move towards the results they desire. Some common concerns of the clients I see are coping with depression, grief/loss, managing anxiety, stress or life changes, and I always approach treatment with trauma-informed care.

My treatment methods

Integrative

Every person is unique, as are their needs. I draw from various, evidence-based treatment modalities to treat the whole person rather than just one aspect of their life.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma is common. Educating clients on how trauma affects us physically and psychologically, along with providing them with tools that will help them to feel safe an empowered is important. It also will help to reduce the risk of further traumatization.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT techniques help to teach practical skills that help people identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, as there is a connection between our thoughts, feelings an behaviors. These techniques can be used on a wide variety of issues including anxiety, depression, PTSD and insomnia.
