LMHC, 20 years of experience
New to Grow
My name is Lisa Carnicelli, and I am a Mental Health Counselor with extensive experience supporting adults through anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, and life transitions. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills, and strength-based approaches to help clients build emotional resilience and achieve personal growth. I am compassionate, motivated, and highly dedicated to client success. I am committed to fostering a safe, collaborative, and empowering therapeutic environment where individuals can gain clarity, develop effective coping tools, and move confidently toward their goals.
During our first session, we will review completed assessments, discuss concerns, begin to discuss your goals, and build our therapeutic relationship. I will actively listen to your experiences and propose a possible pathway to help you reach your goals.
My greatest strengths as a therapist include a strong, evidence-based approach that blends CBT and DBT skills to help clients create meaningful, lasting change. I offer a warm, compassionate, and structured therapeutic environment where clients feel supported and empowered while being gently challenged to grow. I excel at helping clients understand emotional patterns, manage anxiety and stress, and develop practical coping skills for daily life. I offer clear communication and goal-oriented methods that make me especially effective with adults navigating anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, relationship issues, and high-stress roles. Overall, I provide clients with both understanding and actionable tools that lead to real, measurable progress.
I work best with clients who are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, life transitions, and trauma who are willing to discuss their concerns, practice coping skills, and are motivated to work toward therapeutic goals.
I have over 20 years of experience using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-oriented form of psychotherapy that helps people understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. In therapy, clients learn to identify unhelpful thinking patterns and replace them with more realistic, balanced thoughts, while also changing behaviors that contribute to distress. CBT uses tools like thought records, cognitive restructuring, behavioral activation, and exposure techniques, often paired with between-session practice to build lasting skills. It is collaborative, skills-based, and effective for conditions such as anxiety, depression, and stress, empowering clients to develop healthier patterns and improve daily functioning.
I have over 5 years of experience using Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based form of psychotherapy designed to help people manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and reduce self-destructive behaviors. It blends cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness principles, emphasizing both acceptance and change. In therapy, clients learn four core skill areas: mindfulness (staying present and aware), distress tolerance (surviving crises without making things worse), emotion regulation (understanding and managing strong emotions), and interpersonal effectiveness (communicating needs and setting boundaries).
