New to Grow
Hi, I’m Kyra. I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Washington, dedicated to supporting adults, military families, and parents navigating anxiety, depression, and trauma. As a mom, former military spouse, and current law enforcement spouse, I understand how heavy life can feel—and how difficult it can be to ask for help. My lived experience allows me to approach therapy with empathy, cultural understanding, and deep respect for the challenges faced by individuals and families in high-stress roles. I use an eclectic, person-centered approach, drawing from multiple therapeutic modalities to meet you where you are and support you in reaching your goals. Therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and I believe your care should reflect your unique experiences, strengths, and needs. Even when you feel stuck, movement is possible. My role is to partner with you in a judgment-free space where you can regroup, build confidence, and reconnect with your strengths. You don’t have to navigate this alone.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
During our first session, we’ll spend time getting to know you—your background, experiences, and what led you to seek therapy. We’ll talk about what you’re hoping to gain from therapy and begin creating a strengths-based plan to support your goals.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I bring a blend of evidence-based practices into my work, using a strengths-based approach to tailor therapy to your unique needs. Sessions may include a variety of therapeutic tools—such as visual diagrams, worksheets, or even humor—because therapy doesn’t have to feel rigid or intimidating. (Yes, humor is welcome at times in therapy.) I strive to provide a nonjudgmental space where you can show up as your authentic self and feel supported throughout the process.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I am best positioned to serve individuals who are motivated to make changes but feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of where to go next. Many of my clients describe feeling like they are drowning or struggling to regain a sense of direction. My ideal clients are experiencing anxiety, depression, stress related to life transitions or ongoing challenges, and difficulties with motivation or confidence. I work well with individuals who are open to reflection, growth, and being gently challenged to consider new perspectives or approaches. I meet clients where they are while also inviting them to lean into the therapeutic process. Together, we explore meaningful ways to move forward and work toward the outcomes they are seeking.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I enjoy CBT because it is practical and goal-focused. It an help you become aware of your thought and behavior patterns. Sessions often include learning new skills, practicing them in real life, and talking about what works and what doesn’t. My goal is to help you feel better and have tools you can use on your own after ending therapy.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
In my practice DBT has been helpful in assisting people to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with emotions, and build healthy relationships.
Motivational Interviewing
I will facilitate the process of helping you to identify your own motivations for change. This can include identify and examining your values, highlighting your strengths, and building confidence.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
My person-centered approach emphasizes meeting you where you are today. I provide a supportive space for you to process your experiences and work toward your goals by drawing on your own strengths and capabilities.
