New to Grow
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have worked in the therapeutic field for over 20 years. People want to be heard, loved, and accepted without judgment for their thoughts and feelings. As a therapist, I provide that safe space for individuals to do so. I take pride in helping my clients look beyond the surface of personal challenges to identify and heal root issues. I have experience with children, adolescents, and adults with mental health conditions and other social stressors. I specialize in helping individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship with self, phase of life changes, parenting issues and others.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, consider it a fact finding session where the goal is to learn more about you and your background and some of those experiences that contribute to why you are here today! It is more of an intake than it is a first therapy session.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My biggest strengths are helping others find resilience in the parts of themselves they have been conditioned or convinced are not strengths. I believe that there is strength even in our weaknesses because it takes a level of courage to hold onto any belief system, positive or not so positive. If you struggle with decision making or problem solving, I will support you thru that process!
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
With over 20 hears of experience working with children and young adults, being a mom of two teenagers myself, being a woman, A Black woman, a mom, A career woman, I find working with women, children and young adults quite rewarding. I also enjoy being able to guide young people thru the challenges of existing in a world that poses a direct threat to self identify, with too much of a reliance on social media or external things to define them. I also fully enjoy working with single fathers, to provide support and feedback thru the process of parenting and coparenting. I welcome all, to teach and to learn!
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
The goal is to assist clients in identifying current coping ski!!s and enhancing them. That could simply be thru a process of challenging thoughts, reframing them to ones that can aid in facilitating change.
