I am a Clinical Psychologist with 40+ years of experience in providing mental health treatment and evaluations. I pursued an academic track early in my career with faculty appointments in the medical schools of Hahnemann, Brown, and Case Western Reserve Universities. I have been published in professional psychology and medical journals, and presented both nationally and internationally. I have now pursued private practice for 25+ years primarily as an outpatient psychologist and individual psychotherapist. I work with adults ages 18 and older, including seniors. I have engaged effectively with diverse populations experiencing a wide array of difficulties. My special interests are in treating Mood Disorders (Depression and Bipolar Disorder), Anxiety and Stress-Related Disorders, Men's Issues, and Chronic Pain.
Most of my patients come to me feeling a significant level of distress. Some may have seen a mental health professional before and have some idea of what to expect. However, for many this may be the first time they have ever met with a mental health professional and they may feel apprehensive about the process. My goal in that initial session is to strike a balance between putting the person at ease while gathering important information about who they are and what their situation is. Most patients return to their second session feeling encouraged and a degree of hope based on that initial encounter.

I work well with people from all kinds of backgrounds. The "ideal" patient is someone who is motivated to seek change in their life.
