Hi, I’m Affie Ghani, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over six years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families. I offer a warm, nonjudgmental space where we can explore challenges together and work toward meaningful, lasting change. My approach is collaborative and draws from evidence-based practices to support emotional well-being and healthier relationships. I’ve had the privilege of working with clients from diverse cultural, relational, and socioeconomic backgrounds, and I value creating a space that honors your unique identity and experiences.
In our first session, you can expect a warm and welcoming space where we’ll get to know each other and explore what brings you to therapy. I’ll ask some questions to better understand your background, current challenges, and goals for our work together. This is also a chance for you to ask any questions you have about the therapy process, confidentiality, and how we’ll work together. My goal is to make you feel comfortable and supported as we begin this journey.
I provide a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can explore these challenges safely and at your own pace. My strengths lie in building strong therapeutic relationships, offering practical tools for emotional regulation, and tailoring treatment to meet your unique needs and goals. I draw from evidence-based approaches while honoring the complexities of your personal and cultural background. I’m passionate about helping people gain clarity, build resilience, and reconnect with their strengths to create meaningful, lasting change.
My ideal clients are individuals, couples, and families who are navigating life transitions, relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, adiiction, or the effects of trauma. I especially enjoy working with those who are motivated to grow, open to self-exploration, and ready to develop practical skills for managing stress and improving their emotional well-being. I welcome clients from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and strive to create an inclusive, respectful space where everyone feels valued and understood.
In our work together, I may use a mind-body approach, which means we’ll explore how your thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations are connected. This approach helps us understand how stress, trauma, or emotional patterns may be showing up in your body, and how we can use tools like breathwork, mindfulness, or gentle movement to support healing and emotional balance.
In our work together, I may use Dialectical Behavior Therapy, or DBT, which is a structured, skills-based approach that helps you manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and cope with stress in healthier ways. We’ll focus on building skills in four key areas: mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. DBT emphasizes both acceptance and change, which means we’ll work on understanding and accepting your experiences while also developing practical tools to create meaningful change in your life.
In our work together, I take a person-centered approach, which means I see you as the expert in your own life. My role is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you feel truly heard and accepted. This approach is grounded in empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. Together, we'll explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace, and I'll support you in gaining clarity, self-awareness, and confidence to make choices that align with who you are and what matters most to you.
I may use Family therapy approach, which focuses on understanding how relationships and communication patterns within the family impact each member’s well-being. Rather than seeing one person as the problem, we look at how the family system as a whole functions and how changes in interaction can lead to healthier dynamics. My goal is to create a safe space where each family member feels heard, and we work collaboratively to strengthen connections, improve communication, and support more effective problem-solving as a unit.
My experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or CBT, which is a practical, goal-oriented approach that focuses on how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. We’ll work on identifying unhelpful thought patterns and exploring how they may be influencing your emotions and actions. Together, we’ll develop strategies to challenge those thoughts and practice new, more balanced ways of thinking and responding. CBT can help you gain greater awareness and build effective tools for managing stress, anxiety, depression, and other challenges.
