New to Grow
Hi everyone! Are you someone who is open to growth, change, and wants healing to take place? I like to work with clients who have a desire to grow spiritually, emotionally, and mentally and who recognize this doesn't happen overnight. We are each a work in progress! I am a clinician who has been practicing for over 20 years. I enjoy working with various populations and ages but primarily focus on providing counseling services for the adult population. I feel God has led me to be a counselor, and I love watching others grow and heal in their life journeys. I work to help clients build resilience, regain confidence, and find peace in their personal and relational lives. Through a supportive, personalized approach, I work to help clients heal from their past hurts and begin to look forward to the future with a hopeful outlook.
The first session consists of completing the initial intake with you. This is how I get to know you better, and it aids in developing a more personalized treatment plan. Basic information about counseling and the initial paperwork you completed will be reviewed with you. There will be time built into the session to ask questions, and this is welcomed!
I am a strong advocate for others. With my background in social work, standing up for others who are less fortunate or struggling in some way has been very important to me. Most people I counsel seem to enjoy my approach to counseling. I strive to meet clients where they are with warmth and empathy. I have worked in-depth with individuals who have suffered various traumas and have successfully provided EMDR and TF-CBT for these individuals. I have worked mostly with the adult population recently but have a long history of working with children and adolescents as well.
I am passionate about supporting people with overcoming and better managing the following: *Anxiety *Depression *Trauma and PTSD *Grief and loss *Life transitions *Couples counseling *Parenting
Cognitive Behavioral therapy is used to explore the correlation of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is also used to aid clients in challenging negative thought distortions and promoting ways to change thoughts, feelings, and thereby behaviors.
EMDR is used to promote healing from traumatic events and process challenging events effectively, thereby increasing the ability to have a full, healthy life and interactions with others.
Faith-based approaches are used in counseling sessions to provide a Christ-focused view to aid clients in learning to better cope with life challenges.
Couples counseling techniques are used to promote improved communication and connection between spouses/significant others. During sessions, we work together to bridge the gaps that can commonly form in relationships.
Promote opportunities for clients to focus on their strengths and identify ways to build on these strengths.
