About me

Hello, I'm McKenzie, a Licensed Professional Counselor dedicated to helping teens and young adults navigate life's challenges with confidence and self-awareness. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I hope to help clients understand how their thoughts and emotions influence their actions. Together, we will work on building practical skills to manage stress, improve relationships, and create lasting positive change.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, you can expect a relaxed, judgment-free space where we will get to know one another and discuss what brought you to therapy. I will ask a lot of questions about your goals, strengths, and the challenges you are facing, but there is no pressure to share more than you are comfortable with. Together, we will take the first step in outlining a plan for how therapy can best support you, so that you leave feeling hopeful about the process ahead.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What stands out about my approach is that it is practical, supportive, and focused on real-world growth. Drawing on my eight years working with middle school students, I bring a deep understanding of how emotions, environment, and relationships shape behavior. I use CBT in a way that is collaborative and relatable, but also helps clients to build concrete skills they can use every day to feel more confident and in control.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I have over eight years of experience working in a middle school setting. I specialize in supporting teens and young adults who are navigating stress, anxiety, self-esteem challenges, and relationship issues. My background allows me to deeply understand the unique pressures today's youth face. I use a compassionate, yet practical approach to help them regain confidence, emotional resilience, and healthy coping skills.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In my practice, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and change unhelpful patterns in their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. CBT is a structured, goal-oriented, and collaborative approach that empowers clients to build practical tools for managing life’s challenges. Together, we work to uncover how thoughts influence emotions and behaviors, and we actively practice strategies for creating meaningful change. I incorporate interactive techniques such as journaling, role-playing, and coping skills exercises to make the work more engaging and applicable to daily life. These tools help clients not only gain insight but also develop lasting skills to support their emotional well-being and personal growth.
