LPC, 14 years of experience
Hello, my name is Dolores Ituarte Valenzuela, LPC, founder of New Beginnings Counseling and Psychotherapy, PLLC, where healing, hope, and growth take root. I work with adults, children and teens who are navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. My goal is to help clients find clarity, emotional balance, and renewed strength as they learn to reconnect with themselves and others. Through a blend of empathy, evidence-based techniques, and mindful guidance, I empower individuals to transform pain into purpose and self-doubt into self-awareness. My approach is centered on meeting clients where they are, honoring their experiences, and helping them build the tools to live more fulfilled and authentic lives.
During our first session, we’ll take time to get to know each other and discuss what brings you to therapy. I’ll invite you to share your goals, challenges, and hopes for the future at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Together, we’ll begin creating a personalized plan for your care—one that honors your story and supports your emotional wellbeing.
Clients often describe my style as warm, grounded, and empowering. I bring a balance of structure and empathy to each session—helping clients gain insight while developing practical coping skills. My strengths lie in helping individuals navigate trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, and life transitions, while fostering self-awareness, confidence, and emotional regulation.
I work best with adults who are ready to heal, grow, and reconnect with themselves. Many of my clients are navigating grief, anxiety, depression, trauma, or relationship challenges and are seeking greater peace, purpose, and self-understanding. Whether you’re facing a recent life change or unpacking long-standing patterns, therapy with me is a space for clarity, courage, and transformation. I also work with children and teens who are learning to understand and express their emotions in healthy ways. Many young clients I support are coping with anxiety, ADHD, depression, behavioral challenges, or the effects of family stress and trauma. Through creativity, play-based interventions, and developmentally appropriate conversation, I help young people build emotional resilience, confidence, and self-awareness—equipping them with lifelong coping skills to navigate change and build healthy relationships.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. With over 15 years of experience in mental health, I’ve found CBT to be highly effective in addressing anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, and negative thinking patterns. Together, we identify unhelpful thought patterns and replace them with healthier perspectives that support emotional balance and positive action. My CBT approach is practical, collaborative, and empowering—helping clients develop tools they can use both in and outside of sessions to promote long-term change.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy helps clients become more aware of their thoughts and emotions without judgment. I incorporate mindfulness into sessions to cultivate present-moment awareness, self-compassion, and emotional regulation. Clients learn techniques such as breathing exercises, guided imagery, and grounding skills to manage anxiety, reduce stress, and enhance focus. By slowing down and reconnecting with the present, clients begin to experience a greater sense of calm, balance, and control in their daily lives.
As a trained EMDR therapist, I use this evidence-based treatment to help clients process and heal from trauma, distressing memories, and deep emotional pain. EMDR allows the brain to reprocess past experiences in a safe and structured way, reducing the emotional charge associated with those memories. My approach is gentle and client-centered, ensuring each individual feels grounded and supported throughout the process. I often integrate mindfulness and resourcing techniques to help clients build safety and stability before, during, and after EMDR sessions.
