About me

Have you labeled yourself as damaged goods, worthless, with low self-esteem or self-worth? Have you behaved or made decisions as someone living under those labels? Have you experienced trauma and have limited or no support? Are you someone dealing with mother or father wounds? Are you a parent struggling with meeting the demands of being a parent or feeling emotionally unbalanced? Find out how I can support you. I am a Doctor of Marriage & Family Therapy, dually licensed as a Marriage & Family Therapist and Mental Health Counselor. I am also nationally rostered as a Trauma-Informed Child-Parent Psychotherapist. I have advocated in at-risk and inner-city populations for more than 10 years. I specialize in supporting individuals, children, and families who have experienced significant stressors or trauma. Your services with me are a team effort that utilizes a holistic wraparound approach with evidence-based treatments (EMDR, CPP, CBT, etc.) to further support your mental, emotional, and spiritual needs. You will be met where you are with empathy and understanding.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I offer a collaborative, compassionate space where you are met with empathy and respect. Together we’ll name the good, confront the bad, and dive into the ugly, because the “ugly” often lies, insisting there’s no good left. By exposing that lie, we reclaim your strengths and shape goals that fit your unique needs. My care is trauma-informed and evidence-based, with safety as the top priority as we address mother and father wounds, trauma, parenting stress, and life transitions. In our first session, we’ll review consents, policies, and mutual expectations: what I ask of you as a client and what you can expect from me as your therapist. You can anticipate scheduling your next session by the end of this initial appointment (typically within 7 to 10 days) so we can begin consistent work toward your goals. Appointments for Children: Caregivers, please schedule the first session with you alone to discuss the presenting concerns, your role in your child's story and treatment, and to complete developmental, social-emotional assessments that will be used to understand how to better support your child and family.

The treatment methods and tools I utilize

CBT, EMDR, Inner-child work, Child Parent Psychotherapy, Circle of Security Parenting, etc. Treatment methods and tools are dependent on your needs.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My specialty and niche is general family systems with significant work with trauma and stress impact on children 0-6 years of age. In my extensive work in community mental health, I always met my clients and families where they were, figuratively and literally. Whether it was in their car, my car, homeless shelter, mansion, apartment, domestic violence shelter, courthouse, park, etc. It didn't matter where we were; once our sessions started, we were in a safe space. I was persistent and diligent in being an advocate for and with the families I supported. My passion is exactly that: Being With. I have a significant history and gift of being with people in their moment of pain or emotional need.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My practice is the best fit for children, teens, parents, adults, and caregivers who feel stuck in patterns rooted in trauma, anxiety, family wounds, or parenting stress. Those who are ready to roll up their sleeves and create lasting change. I prioritize clients who bring consistency, an open mind, and a willingness to explore the good, the bad, and the “ugly.” Whether you're an individual ready to address your high-stress or trauma history, a caregiver in the sandwich generation juggling your aging parents while raising little ones, an adult untangling mother or father wounds, or a family seeking deeper connection, I offer warmth and challenge in equal measure. For meaningful progress, weekly sessions are essential as they allow us to build and maintain the therapeutic relationship necessary for lasting change and open opportunities for others who are equally ready. Expectations: I honor time and effort, so I desire consistent communication. If there is no response after one outreach attempt, I reserve the right to close the space and make room on my schedule for others. Not as a dismissal of your story, but simply because our paths may not be the best fit right now, or because something different might better serve you. Either way, I remain deeply honored by the trust you’ve shown in sharing your journey and will be readily available to support you if or when the time is right.
