New to Grow
I am a bilingual (Spanish and English) mental health counselor with over 10 years of experience supporting adults, adolescents, children, and families in the District of Columbia and Maryland. I bring a strong appreciation for cultural diversity into my work and believe that each person’s background, values, and life experiences are essential to the healing process. My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, practical, and centered on creating a safe space where clients feel understood and empowered. I believe that everyone’s story matters and that healing looks different for each person, shaped by culture, family, identity, and life experiences. I use evidence-based methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and behavioral interventions, tailoring treatment to each client’s age, goals, and strengths. I specialize in grief counseling and supporting individuals impacted by domestic violence, with a particular passion for working with women, immigrants, adults, adolescents, and children. My goal is to create a safe, respectful, and empowering space where clients feel seen, heard, and supported as they navigate life’s challenges en inglés o en español.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
During our first session, we’ll take the time to get to know each other and explore what brought you here. I’ll listen closely to your concerns, goals, and any challenges you're facing. We’ll talk about what you hope to achieve through our work together and outline a plan that feels right for you. My approach is supportive and non-judgmental, creating a safe space where you can feel heard and understood. This session is all about establishing trust and setting the foundation for meaningful progress
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My greatest strengths include my ability to build strong, trusting relationships and provide culturally responsive, client‑centered care. I integrate evidence‑based approaches with empathy and practicality to help clients gain insight, develop effective coping skills, and achieve meaningful goals. I am especially skilled at meeting clients where they are and empowering them to move forward with confidence and resilience.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My ideal clients are individuals seeking personal growth, clarity, and healing. They are motivated to understand themselves better, navigate life transitions, and overcome emotional barriers. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, relationship challenges, or self-doubt, I am best positioned to support those ready to explore deeper issues and develop healthier coping strategies. Together, we’ll work toward empowering you to lead a more fulfilled, balanced life with a focus on self-awareness and lasting change.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a practical, strengths‑based approach to help my clients understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. In my practice, I collaborate with my clients to identify unhelpful thinking patterns, develop coping skills, and set realistic, goal‑oriented strategies.
Motivational Interviewing
I use Motivational Interviewing as a collaborative, client‑centered approach to support my clients in exploring ambivalence and strengthening their own motivation for change. In my practice, I focus on active listening, empathy, and open‑ended questions to help my clients identify goals, recognize strengths, and increase readiness for positive behavioral and emotional change.
Grief Therapy
I use grief‑informed therapeutic approaches to support individuals as they process loss in a compassionate, developmentally appropriate way. In my practice, I provide a safe and supportive space to explore emotions, normalize grief responses, and strengthen coping strategies. I work collaboratively to honor each person’s experience, cultural background, and pace of healing while fostering resilience, emotional expression, and adjustment over time.
Psychoeducation
I use psychoeducation as a foundational component of my practice to help individuals understand emotions, behaviors, and mental health concerns in a clear and accessible way.
