Hello! At the beginning, my focus will be on getting to know you. Everyone has a story to tell and as you tell yours, I will be looking for your personal character strengths (we all have them). Your character strengths will help you achieve the positive change(s) you are seeking. Once I get a grasp on your strengths, we will combine your natural strengths with new strategies and supports from a variety of research-based resources. It is my goal that each and every counseling session be preventative, proactive, and/or empowering. Often, you will be given homework so the therapy continues even when we are not meeting. My specialty areas include: depression, anxiety, grief, couple/marriage counseling, Christian counseling, identity issues , recovery after a separation or divorce, infidelity, new transitions, career/college counseling, general stress, work environment issues, impostor syndrome, teacher/administration/education work-related stress, the stress that comes with being a parent, infertility, and being overwhelmed with responsibilities. My career started in education. My career in education spanned 18 years and included being: an elementary teacher, a middle school guidance counselor, a high school guidance counselor, and a college adjunct psychology professor. In my current position as a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC), I have been in practice since 2016. I absolutely love what I do and I take the job very seriously.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

There is a list of questions that I ask each person during their first session to try and gain an understanding of the big picture. Once I am finished asking these questions, I focus on trying to get to know you and putting your mind at ease.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strengths are: connecting with people, helping people strengthen their relationship with God, and easing the pain of people that are hurting. Counseling is not something you need to feel nervous about, you might even have fun in the process.

My treatment methods

Christian Counseling

Faith builds hope and reinforces strength to help navigate life's challenges. Life is not easy but through faith we can find (and build) a sense of purpose.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

During each session, I listen carefully for negative thought patterns and irrational thoughts being expressed by the individual. By grounding the thoughts with truth, we can replace negative/irrational thought patterns with rational and more productive thoughts. Thoughts influence action and once patterns are uncovered, that insight can be used to make positive changes.

Compassion Focused

My main goal is to put your mind at ease and support you in whatever ways I can. Life is hard and complicated. That being said, please be reassured that I will not judge the situation you are in. Counseling is not "one size fits all"--I will do my due diligence to find a strategy that works for you.
