New to Grow
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in practice for 24 years. I have worked with all ages of clients and enjoy working with people to help them realize that we are all dealing with something and sometimes we need help from another to gain a different perspective, especially when overwhelming situations arise. I believe that what we think affects what we do. When we apply this with mindfulness, we can begin to see how our thoughts affect our emotions, physical body and behavior. Together, we can come up with a treatment plan that will guide us together to help you approach situations you are dealing with in a different way.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Our first session will consist of getting to know each other and what the client wants to accomplish in a tailored therapy program. I will explain the limits of confidentiality, go over any questions you may have regarding the intake paperwork and work with you to formulate your treatment plan, which helps as a guide for us to follow as a treatment team so that we can accomplish the goals you want to achieve. I utilize solutions focused and client centered therapies along with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and weekly homework assignments can help facilitate what you are learning between sessions. Session length can vary depending on your needs anywhere between 45-60 minutes.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My goal in using the above treatment methods is to ultimately empower my clients to build awareness of how their thoughts and emotions influence their lives and work on ways to positively cope with life challenges. When people can see that they don't have to think the way that they always have, they learn new adaptive ways to cope with problems and ultimately can change their lives for the better. That is always my goal.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I am experienced in working with clients of all ages. I have worked with individuals, families and group settings. Earlier in my career, I worked for many years with children, teenagers and their families along with therapy in a school setting. Over the past nine years, I have been working with older adults coping with health problems, chronic pain and helping them cope with these difficulties. I have experience working with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, and helping individuals build positive coping skills and healthy boundaries.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have been using CBT for many years and find this approach to be helpful for clients of all ages to realize the way we think affects what we do. When we apply this approach with mindfulness and mindful activities clients can begin to notice patterns, and then in turn empower themselves to realize if they like the pattern or want to change it.
