About me

Hi, I’m MaKaylah, a mental health counselor passionate about creating a safe and supportive space for healing, growth, and self-discovery. I earned my degree in Counseling from Maryville University, where I was trained in both evidence based practices and person centered care. In my practice, I take a humanistic approach, which means I view every client as whole, capable, and worthy; not defined by a diagnosis or past experiences. I believe that real change happens when you're truly seen, heard, and accepted without judgment. My role is to walk alongside you as you explore your thoughts, emotions, and challenges, helping you reconnect with your inner strengths and values. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, life transitions, or just feeling stuck, I offer a space where you can explore your experiences openly and at your own pace. I also integrate tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other modalities when helpful, tailoring each session to your unique needs and goals. You deserve to feel empowered and supported in your journey, and I’m here to help make that possible.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and begin building a supportive, collaborative relationship. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy; your main concerns or challenges and begin identifying your goals. Together, we’ll create a plan with clear, measurable steps to help guide our work and support your growth moving forward

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What Sets My Approach Apart: My approach is rooted in empathy, collaboration, and respect for your individual journey. As both a mental health counselor and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, I bring a unique understanding of how physical, emotional, and cognitive challenges can impact daily life and identity; especially for those adjusting to a new disability. I combine a humanistic, person centered foundation with practical tools from evidence based methods like CBT to help you build insight, resilience, and measurable progress toward your goals. Clients often appreciate my ability to hold space for both emotional healing and forward movement.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with individuals who are navigating the emotional and mental health challenges that come with newly acquired disabilities, as well as those struggling with anxiety, ADHD, and overall emotional overwhelm. My ideal clients may feel lost, frustrated, or uncertain as they adjust to major life changes or manage ongoing mental health concerns. They’re looking for a supportive, nonjudgmental space to explore their experiences, build coping strategies, and reconnect with their sense of self and purpose. My ideal clients often come to therapy seeking support in one or more of the following areas: - Adjusting to a newly acquired disability and navigating the emotional, physical, and identity-related changes that come with it. - Managing anxiety by learning how to reduce racing thoughts, regulate emotions, and develop healthier coping skills. - Improving focus, organization, and self-esteem in the context of living with ADHD. - Building resilience during major life transitions or periods of emotional overwhelm. - Developing self-compassion and a stronger sense of identity after experiencing sudden change or ongoing mental health challenges. - Creating balance in daily life while improving confidence, motivation, and self-awareness.
