About me

Hi there! I'm Kristy, your friendly neighborhood therapist and fellow human navigating this wild journey called life. With a heart full of empathy and a knack for listening, I'm here to create a safe and welcoming space where you can share your story, be truly heard, and feel valued every step of the way. As a parent of two and someone who's danced with the quirks of being neurodivergent, I get it – life's a beautiful mess, but together, we'll navigate it with humor, compassion, and a sprinkle of wit. Let's embrace the journey together!

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During your first session, I will greet you warmly and introduce myself, creating a welcoming atmosphere from the start. This sets the tone for the session and helps alleviate any initial nerves or apprehension. Building trust is crucial in therapy, especially during the first session. I will take the time to connect with you on a personal level, expressing genuine empathy and understanding for your experiences and concerns. We will explore your background, including relevant life experiences, relationships, and any challenges you may be facing. We will discuss my therapeutic approach, as well as techniques, and methods I may use in sessions. I have flexibility in my approach and we can discuss how I can adapt my therapeutic style to best suit your preferences and needs. We will collaboratively establish treatment goals and objectives that align with your needs and aspirations.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

In our sessions, I offer a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences freely. My therapeutic approach is rooted in empathy, respect, and collaboration. Together, we'll work to identify your strengths and untapped potential, empowering you to make positive changes in your life. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where our clients feel comfortable exploring their thoughts and feelings, and where they can develop the skills and tools they need to thrive.

My treatment methods

EMDR

EMDR is a specialized therapy used to process trauma and significant anxiety or depression without having to talk through and re-experiencing very emotionally triggering events. I have personally seen this type of therapy help so many people and help them finally be able to move on after being stuck in a loop of memories they cannot forget.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)

ERP is the gold standard of treatment for OCD and anxiety. This type of therapy can be very helpful in reducing and/ or getting rid of anxiety and other corresponding feelings. Part of this type of therapy is also helping people learn about what OCD is and identify obsessions and compulsions. I have seen this modality be really helpful to a lot of people and provide relief and validation after years and even decades of struggling with thoughts and emotions.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Person-centered therapy is a modality focused on meeting you where you are at and helping you feel valued, supported, and heard. This is the type of therapy that comes most naturally to me and I enjoy seeing people grow and understand their worth.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have experience using several types of this therapy. This modality focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I have experience using this type of treatment for 7 years. It is a shorter term treatment and helps someone find solutions to immediately start implementing in their lives.
