LMFT, 10 years of experience
New to Grow
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Georgia who has been serving in mental health/substance abuse community since 2015. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology as well as my Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Valdosta State University. I take a systemic, non-judgmental approach when working with clients in therapy which takes into consideration a variety of factors such as family, friends, social settings, economic class and environment at home that are contributing to presenting problems.
During our initial session, there will be an assessment completed that will ask about your history, current challenges, and future goals for your life. This assessment will allow for a treatment plan to be created incorporating the specified goals you have identified and interventions to achieving those goals to be discussed. I will also be available to answer any questions or concerns you may have about the therapeutic process.
I offer a safe space to explore client concerns by utilizing CBT, DBT, SFT and Mindfulness based practices as a way to facilitate change. I have received extensive training in DBT which promotes living in the present moment, learning how to cope with distressing emotions, and building healthy relationships that brings about a life worth living.
I enjoy working with clients who are eager to learn more about themselves through challenging dysfunctional ways of thinking that could be causing distress, being open to new perspectives, and are willing to learn new skill sets to assist them with managing emotions.
I use this treatment method as a way to educate clients on how their thoughts, feelings and behaviors are interconnected and by changing negative thought patterns can lead to changes in feelings as well as behaviors.
As DBT is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy, I like to intertwine this treatment method into sessions with clients as it emphasizes the balance between acceptance and change. DBT specifically focuses on providing therapeutic skills in four key areas: mindfulness, emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance.
I enjoy working with couples in session to assist them with addressing conflicts, enhancing communication, and fostering emotional intimacy.
EMDR is a psychotherapy treatment that is designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories. I find this treatment method to be effective with clients who are experiencing high levels of distress related to traumatic experiences.
