Hello! My name is Dee, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Master of Arts in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University and a specialized Mental Health certification from Lamar University. I have over seven years of experience Couseling in school settings with students who have special needs, as well as over two years in private practice supporting individuals and families. In my practice, I work with clients experiencing adjustment disorders, anxiety, depression, and family challenges. I strive to create a compassionate, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In your first session, you can expect a welcoming and supportive space where we begin getting to know each other. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, your goals, and what you hope will be different as a result of our work together. I’ll ask questions to better understand your history, current challenges, and strengths, but there’s no pressure to share more than you feel ready to. We’ll also discuss how I work, what the therapy process may look like, and answer any questions you have. My goal in our first meeting is to help you feel comfortable, heard, and clear about next steps. Together, we’ll begin identifying practical goals and building a plan that supports meaningful progress.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What stands out about my therapeutic approach is the balance of structure, warmth, and authenticity I bring to the process. I integrate evidence-based methods with a relational, down-to-earth style that makes therapy feel both productive and human. Clients often appreciate that our work is goal-oriented and practical, while still allowing space for humor, honesty, and real connection. I focus on helping clients not just gain insight, but actively apply tools that create measurable change in their daily lives and relationships. Whether working with individuals or couples, I emphasize accountability, skill-building, and forward movement. My goal is for clients to leave sessions feeling clearer, empowered, and equipped with strategies they can use long after therapy ends.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I’m best positioned to work with individuals and couples who are open to the therapeutic process and genuinely ready to grow. I appreciate clients who can bring a sense of humor into the room, even when discussing difficult topics, and who are willing to be honest, reflective, and engaged in their work. I work well with individuals who are motivated to meet their counseling goals, open to new perspectives, and willing to make meaningful changes. With couples, I especially enjoy working with partners who love each other and are committed to doing the work. Those who may be struggling but still want to strengthen their connection, improve communication, and rebuild trust. If you’re open, motivated, and ready for growth (with room for some laughter along the way), we’ll likely be a great fit

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a primary treatment approach in my practice. I work collaboratively with clients to identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, develop effective coping strategies, and create meaningful behavioral change. My approach is structured, goal-oriented, and evidence-based, helping clients build practical skills to manage anxiety, depression, stress, and other life challenges while fostering long-term resilience.

Couples Counseling

I provide couples counseling using evidence-based, relational approaches to help partners improve communication, rebuild trust, and strengthen emotional connection. I work collaboratively with couples to identify unhelpful patterns, develop healthier ways of relating, and build practical skills for conflict resolution and intimacy. My approach is structured, supportive, and focused on fostering lasting, meaningful change within the relationship.

Eclectic

I use an eclectic, client-centered approach that integrates evidence-based modalities to meet each client’s unique needs. Drawing from cognitive-behavioral, relational, and strengths-based frameworks, I tailor treatment to support insight, skill-building, and meaningful change. My work is collaborative, flexible, and focused on helping clients develop practical tools for lasting growth and resilience.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I utilize Solution-Focused Brief Treatment (SFBT) to help clients identify strengths, clarify goals, and build practical solutions. This forward-focused, collaborative approach emphasizes what is working rather than dwelling on problems. I support clients in creating meaningful change by highlighting their existing resources and empowering them to take small, achievable steps toward their desired outcomes.
