Hello. My name is Samelhia Thompson and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Georgia. I received my Masters in Community Counseling from Argosy University and I have been practicing for 10 years. I help clients to understand that “It is Okay not to be Okay.” I believe in meeting my clients where they are and providing them with the coping skills they need.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will begin to get to know each other, the issues that you are facing and the best modality to use to bring about the healing process. Building of trust between myself and the client is so important as a predictor for an ongoing positive relationship.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe my greatest strength as a provider is being able to meet my clients where they are and to make them feel comfortable which will in turn foster a healthy and safe therapeutic environment. I believe we are all uniquely different which is why I customize my approach to meet my clients individual needs.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Words are heard best when they are followed by action. As your therapist, I will hold you accountable for the change you say you want to see. Using a holistic approach, we will work together to customize a treatment plan that works for you. All you will be required to do is your best and we will figure out the rest as we go along!

Mind-body approach

I use a combination of solution-focused, cognitive behavioral and spiritually infused therapy. I have over 30 years of experienced working with individuals who have a myriad of concerns. Spiritually infused is not based on religion but developing a process of working with individuals from a mind, body approach which strengthens the spirit. Each component of the person, mind, body and spirit are connected and must be addressed in order to recognize and respect the person as a whole.

Eclectic

utilize a blend of therapies including (but not limited to) CBT and Person Centered Therapy depending on what is appropriate for my client as an individual or what is best to address the issue at hand. I believe in allowing the therapeutic process to flow naturally, which will in turn, provide realistic solutions.
