Hello! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Pasadena, California -- home of the Rose Parade! I received my Masters Degree from Fuller Seminary. My passion is to help my clients find their joy in life again. Whether it's a couple trying to heal their relationship or an individual wrestling with their faith, I am all in. I love to listen and help my clients with practical tools, new ways of thinking, and creative steps forward.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions and review the new client paperwork you have completed ahead of our session. That will allow me to gather some basic history and information about why you are seeking counseling. It also gives me a chance to ask additional questions, if needed. Then, we'll dive into more of the details of your specific challenges together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Since I began counseling back in 2000, my clients have regularly told me I'm an excellent listener and give very practical support for the challenges they face. I am also a very hopeful person by nature which means that even big challenges in my clients' lives do not intimidate me. If you're willing to do the work, the breakthrough will come. My goal is to provide a safe space for you to be real about what you're facing, so that we can begin helping you navigate your way back to your joy again.

My treatment methods

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

IFS is one of my most frequently used treatment methods because of the helpful framework it provides for my clients when they are learning how to better relate to themselves, especially parts of them that are shy to speak up. Though it's not a good fit for everyone, most of my clients catch on fast to IFS and enjoy it!

Grief Therapy

Walking alongside clients through the valley of grief is a slow and delicate process. The journey can't be rushed, but I can help clients participate fully in the process so that they are able to come through to the other side where the pain isn't as heavy and they can breathe again.

Narrative

The stories we are telling ourselves directly impact our behavior, especially our choices toward action or inaction. I find that Narrative therapy is a way to empower clients as the writer of their next chapters.

Psychodynamic

I find the psychodynamic approach helpful when we are trying to understand the root of an issue. It helps us to understand the affects of events in our formative years on our present experience.

Christian Counseling

Christian counseling means different things to different people. Some clients just want a therapist familiar with and practicing the Christian faith so that their therapist has familiarity with Christian language and culture. Other clients are looking for a therapist who will pray with them and provide spiritual direction. It will be important to me that we discuss what you are hoping for during our first session, so that I can best serve you or refer you to additional resources, if needed.
