My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is an effort to change thinking patterns. Helping an individual to learn and recognize his/her distortions in thinking that are creating problems, and then to reevaluate them in light of reality. Using problem solving skills to cope with difficult situations. Helping individuals to learning ways to develop a greater sense of confidence in their own abilities. Using role play to handle a problematic situation. Helping individuals to face their fears instead of avoiding them. Learning to calm one's mind and calm one's body.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT strategies include mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, self-care, validation, and radical acceptance. Mindfulness enhances self-awareness and present-moment focus, while distress tolerance provides tools to manage discomfort and crisis. Emotion regulation focuses on identifying and managing intense emotions effectively. Interpersonal effectiveness teaches skills for maintaining healthy relationships, and self-care emphasizes the importance of taking care of oneself. Validation involves recognizing and affirming one’s feelings, and radical acceptance encourages embracing realities without resistance.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing is a counselling method that involves enhancing a patient's motivation to change by means of four guiding principles, represented by the acronym RULE: Resist the righting reflex; Understand the patient's own motivations; Listen with empathy; and Empower the patient. When patients understand which behavioral stage they are in—as well as their hesitancy or readiness to change their behavior—they are better positioned to not only find the motivation to change but to maintain that motivation.
